Doctor thinks meniscus

Hi! So I’ll start by saying I’ve never had knee issues. I had a fall that I had a grade 2 atfl tear on my left ankle that immediately hurt and blew up. Had a bit of a shock response for a few minutes of seeing white and ears ringing.
The following day, my knee felt “tight”. By day 4 there was so much fluid on my knee I couldn’t bend it. I went to physio thinking I was just overcompensating with my right knee/hip because my left ankle hurt and was shocked when she suggested ACL or meniscus.
Xray was clean for bone chips. Sports doc drained 100ml of fluid off of it 13 days ago and another 80ml off today. He did inject cortisone in it today too.
But … I don’t have pain. More “ache” from so much pressure from the swelling but no acute pain.
Has anyone experienced similar? Is it possible to be just irritated and produce that much fluid without being torn?
Just looking for first hand experience with something similar. It’s a month and a day post fall. I have 3 kids ages 2-5 and coach crossfit so this has added a ton of challenge to my day to day and I’m looking for a little hope i guess.
