AETHR shell - complete Quickshell dotfiles for Hyprland with *no persistent bar*

Oh, you wanted a persistent bar? Ok boomer. The rest of us want to see our desktops unencumbered, thank you very much. Why take up valuable real estate when you can easily hover to the screen edges to reveal only the modules you need, when you need them, if you need them, and probably how you need them, am I right?

You want unnecessary visual bloat, or you want completely necessary Material Design icons affixed to every module, like a fake TV antenna and knobs on the workspace previews, and speaker icons next to the sound control module? Don't forget a wallpaper picker that rivals/badly mimics the latest skewed card layouts that are all the rage three years ago. Don't take this shell too seriously and it won't take you for a sucker. Capisce?

Apertura update w/ workspace previews

Thanks for the support I received earlier this week when I shared my dotfiles. I've since made a few improvements that I thought people might like.

The big one, which was quite the bitch actually, was that I added workspace previews on hover. The preview window will automatically resize if the layout changes, for instance like in the demo here for a vertical monitor. If you use the scrolling layout and have multiple windows open, you can scroll through them in the preview pane.

Also you can right-click items in lower portion of the bar to pin them, and also you can right-click apps in the launcher to pin them too.

A few minor bug fixes were added as well, so if you happened to check it out already, make sure to get the latest files!

Thanks again!

Apertura - custom quickshell + xray

Dotfiles: https://github.com/natepayn3/Apertura

This quickshell environment is intentionally simple in function and aesthetic, but unique in the way it utilizes Hyprland's xray feature to give the modules a unique focus regardless of what you have open on your desktop. There is no settings gui (yet, anyway) because it is designed to be a simple and straightforward configuration.

Features: Desktop clock that can be dragged and toggled always visible, app launcher, wallpaper switcher w/ matugen, calendar/clock, cava, workspace indicators, screen snip (satty), notepad (can be toggled always visible), as well as modules for notifications + bluetooth + audio + system and network monitors + power options.

I have provided an install script but it has not been tested widely. This is also my first attempt at dotfiles so don't come at me 😄!

Edit: tweaked since I posted this, a few bug fixes. Also I never mentioned that you can right-click icons to pin them. I also added weather to the calendar module and a GPU monitor (if one is detected).

Thanks for the support!

Xray + blur looks cool

Custom quickshell config I've been working on. Interesting layering effect with xray. The modules expose the wallpaper when they overlap open windows. Kinda neat.
