Pecan Porter
I've been training as a barback at my job and today the lead bartender gave me a beer class. General information as well as tasting what we had on tap.
I've never been much of a beer guy. If I'd have to choose, Sapporo would definitely be my favorite.
The most surprising. I did not expect to like our draft IPA as much as I did. It ended up being my favorite out of all the ones we had on draft. Now, my least favorite?
Bro. That 512 pecan porter. Absolutely not. I was comically gagging at it. I recorded a voice memo so I wouldn't forget everything she was teaching me, and when trying the porter, you can hear my many exclamations of disgust. It wasn't just me. One of the servers tried it and said it tasted horrible. LOL.
The first flavor that hit me was smoke. The second? Coffee. After that? Eeeuuugghh. To be fair, I hate coffee. So that probably made this worse. I know it's brewed with chocolate malts but I did not taste any chocolate. Maybe my palate isn't refined enough.
That is a winner for the worst beer I've ever tried thus far. I really wish I could see what others see in this beer. But holy shit. I'm convinced that people who drink pecan porter must hate themselves and their lives so thoroughly that they've condemned themselves to drinking liquid ass.
