Hiking with an Edinburgh base and no car

Hi everyone! I’m a solo traveller heading to Edinburgh in May next year for ten days and not planning to drive. I’m extremely used to starting really early and travelling for hours just to get to a good hike (I’m also a fit, experienced hiker). An example is with Amsterdam as a base I went to Hoge Veluwe National Park.

I have been looking into Isle of Mull and Isle of Arran and spend one night there or I’ve been looking at Glencoe and Pentland Hills for proper day trips.

Is there anything I’m missing? Anything you would recommend? I’m from the US so ideally I am looking for hikes with scenery that I can’t get here, preferably not flat, off the beaten path.

Thank you!

Itinerary help with Scotland

I’m going to Edinburgh for ten days (I like my trips chill, I did ten days in the Netherlands with an Amsterdam base and it was perfect).

I usually save 3 days in my 10-day trips to explore the country/hike, and I’m struggling here between doing a 3-day tour of isle of skye/highlands or doing North Berwick one day, St. Andrews another day and Glencoe another day.

I am travelling solo and not driving. Thoughts?? I’m going in mid May! Thanks :)

Edit to say I’m also considering isle of arran or mull as alternatives!

Loved tipping the velvet! Are the rest of Sarah’s books that good?

Even though it took me a minute to get into, I absolutely loved the book and how real everything felt! Also as a butch lesbian, I felt represented by how Nancy felt about clothes and her looks, and how Sarah described her dysphoria hit me right in the feels😅

Edinburgh or Copenhagen for solo trip?

Hi! I’m planning a solo trip for next year and trying to decide between the two. I know weather is different in both, I know CPN is expensive. My ideal budget is about $100 a day not including money for museums/theater shows/random purchases.

For more context, I’m a 36F lesbian who will travel solo for ten days to either place, time of the year is flexible.
For my trips I like a good mix of lack of car dependency to explore the country, lively city with fun cultural things to do (theater, music, art) and proximity to hiking.
Last time I did this was in The Netherlands and it was the perfect mix of everything, though the hiking was a bit flat but still goegeous.

EDIT: budget does not include flights or lodging, it’s my daily budget for food and moving around (my usual day on vacation is coffee and pastry, a sandwich or something quick during lunch and then a more considerable dinner).

Thank you!!
