My great grandma on my mom’s side died of breast cancer, my aunt (also on my mom’s side) got diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago and died 3 years ago. Now my last aunt on my mom’s side got diagnosed yesterday with breast cancer. I’m really scared. What should my next steps be ? I’m only 23 but my aunt got diagnosed at 35 so I want to do something. Do I go to the doctor and ask for genetic testing? What would the steps for a preventative mastectomy to be covered by insurance? I’m sorry if this is the wrong sub for this.
