Dog in restaurant

We are at a Keke’s and midway through our meal a big, loud family was seated next to us and had a small-medium shitzhu type dog. A teenager was holding it in her arms and was clearly trying to hide it. My husband and I at the same time were like “absolutely not”. To the restaurant’s credit once we highlighted the situation the manager made them remove the dog.

I think they just went and put it in the car because the person who took it outside came back. Then the proceeded to loudly talk about it in Spanish for the rest of the time. I heard in English something like “how you treat dogs is something something” it was so loud I’m not sure what the end of that sentence was.

We had literally just left Best Buy where a couple were walking a Beagle that clearly was not a service dog around the store.

The dog situation is so far out of hand, I’m becoming more and more militant about saying something each and every time I see it.

Doctor said shingles doesn’t make you tired

42/f

Wednesday I had horrible nerve pain starting at the right side of my neck, going down my shoulder, into my arm and hand. Tingling, sensitive to touch, pins and needles, and horrible pain. Thought it was a pinched nerve at first but the pain was very bad. I was also ungodly tired.

Saturday/Sunday I noticed a rash on my bicep. I also had joint pain in my fingers and weakness, couldn’t open screw lids with that hand (my dominant hand). Household tasks that shouldn’t have worn me out, were challenging to complete, I ran out of energy very fast and I needed to nap.

Sunday night as the rash got worse, I suspected I had shingles. Did a telehealth appt and got Valacylovir, took first pill Sunday evening.

I have still been so, so tired, and in pain, my right bicep feels like I did way too many bicep curls. I fell asleep at 7:30pm after dragging all day at work. I woke up at 11:30pm noticing some newly appearing blisters on my thumb at the joint.

I have had shingles once before on my lower back (about 3” in diameter) about 17 years ago. Felt like fire ants, so I have some experience.

I thought it might be a good idea to get seen in person, the backup doctor at my primary care doctor’s office said “shingles doesn’t cause fatigue” and completely ignored all my non-rash symptoms. He said having it on the arm is unusual and he thought it was contact dermatitis. He prescribed a medrol dose pack, I will not be taking. I left aggravated and was able to get a same day appt at a dermatologist and he said he strongly thinks it’s shingles and got me a prescription for a acyclovir cream with lidocaine and gabapentin that I am now waiting on.

The rash on my arm I think is smaller now, I didn’t think to take a photo of it before. It hurts less, but the spots on my thumb are staring to hurt more.

About 2 months ago had a small spot of rash on my left hip, but it didn’t come with all the pain and tiredness and nerve pain. Looking back I wonder if it had been shingles. Sees unlikely to get it twice so close together? And of course it may have been something else, it itched and burned very similarly. It was on a spot where it’s covered with clothing all the time so I don’t know what else it could have been.

I hope the tiredness ends soon, I can deal with the pain and itching of the rash but the tiredness is debilitating.
