I live in Seattle and I just noticed these holes today as I was inspecting the soffits of my roof. I’m assuming these were made by birds. Likely northern flickers, which I’ve seen around and even heard from inside my house.

Any suggestions on how to cover these up to prevent further damage and or nesting inside my attic?

How would you build a pergola extending (to the left of the shed) off of this 8 x 12 lean to shed? Would you attach it to the shed or would you build it standalone?

I’ve attached an example of how I would like the results to look like. I like how the extension example follows the lean to of the shed.
