Aurelia has postponed the decision on its territory

A few days ago, Aurelia claimed a part of Sri Lanka as its territory, but people said it's unrealistic and soon the post got removed. Since then, I've been trying to think of a way to come up with a serious territory but so far, I haven't came up with anything good. So, until further notice, the decision about the territorial claims of Aurelia has been postponed and it will not claim any physical territory until then.

Aurelia is reconsidering its territory

Since the original post about Aurelia's new territory got taken down by the moderators for apparently being "geofiction or roleplay" (I mean yeah, totally understandable, I apologize for that mistake), I am reconsidering the territory of Aurelia. I am thinking of maybe not claiming such a big fictional scale and instead keeping it small like most other micronations. If you have any ideas on how to actually make a good territory for a micronation, please let me know. I'll try to keep it realistic and grounded next time.

Aurelia officially has a territory now!

Aurelia has claimed the western, southwestern and southern parts of Sri Lanka as its territory. This decision was made since a lot of people have been telling me that you shouldn't do everything online and that you should have real territory. Please let me know what you think about this decision, and thanks to micronation.io: https://micronation-io.base44.app/ for making it super easy to make this map.

About the "LARP wars" situation

So I am actually quite new to this subreddit (I've been a member for maybe like 1.5 months), and as you may know, I'm the Founder and current President of the Democratic Republic of Aurelia.

I've seen a lot of posts on here being called out for "LARP", especially those involving "wars" between micronations. I have read this announcement by the moderators. This also points out that "LARP" in the context of micronationalism isn't well-defined.

But however "LARP wars" are kind of confusing for me, because a lot of these micronations aren't actually in proximity of each other to do a war IRL, but if they declare war on each other without doing something "in real life" people criticize them for being "LARP" and "unserious".

For Aurelia this isn't much of a problem, since we do not want to engage in wars anyway, whether or not they are IRL. But for a person that doesn't follow a neutral or semi-neutral model, this can be pretty confusing.

So I would like to ask y'all, what counts as an actual "serious war" if the two micronations are hundreds, thousands or even tens of thousands of miles away from each other? how are the supposed to fight?

Also, if Aurelia is doing anything wrong as a micronation, please let me know because I want Aurelia to be a serious micronation. Your help is sincerely appreciated.

Happy Micronational Peace Day!

If you've seen my post about the annual Micronational Peace Day (if not you can see it here.), you know that Aurelia and some other micronations who agreed to celebrate it will be celebrating the Micronational Peace Day today (May 10th). My goal is to make this holiday a recognized one in the entire micronations community, and I need your help for that. All you need to do is, if you have a micronation just celebrate this annually on May 10. It helps a lot, and thank you if you decide to do so.

Aurelia is going to hold a Micronational Peace Day on May 10th annually. It will be a day where micronations can forget past conflicts and hatred towards other micronations, stop any ongoing wars and strengthen relations with other micronations. I hope it becomes a recognized Inter-micronational Day within the micronations community, but I need YOUR help for that. If you have a micronation, help spread the word by making an announcement about it in your micronation, because it helps a lot. Together, we can make this an official micronational peace day within the micronations community.

I've always wanted to create a national currency for Aurelia. But I kept postponing it because ARL was first considered to be just symbolic, But that is going to change now because I made 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 ARL banknotes for Aurelia. Please drop any suggestions in the comments if you have any, and do tell what you think about these.

I have added a couple more features to IMT Social, a social media app designed specifically for micronations. At this point it's mostly simple updates and features since most of it has already been previously implemented.

What's New

  1. Replies and editable posts
  2. Post tags

I know this update isn't a very exciting one but as I said, there isn't much to implement now.

A genie offers you a challenge.

If you accept, your real-world time pauses completely, and you are placed into a subjective survival and stress simulation lasting exactly 24 hours. However, there is a 3% chance the simulation extends to 72 hours instead.

The simulation contains escalating survival, problem-solving, and psychological stress scenarios. Everything feels completely real (like fear, fatigue, and emotional distress) but when you return to the real world, there will be no injuries or damage to your body.

You may exit at any time.

Exit rules

If you initially accept, you must survive at least 2 hours in the simulation before you can exit early.

If you exit early (before completing 24 hours), you return to reality and permanently lose 25% of your total net worth (money + physical assets).

If you complete 24 hours, you receive $1 billion tax-free.

If you complete the 72-hour variant (the one with the 3% chance), you receive $100 billion tax-free.

Additional rules

You can only attempt this simulation once in your lifetime.

You will fully remember the experience.

Emotional distress may persist for up to 30 days after exit, but will gradually fade and will not cause lasting psychological damage.

The simulation cannot result in real-world death or permanent physical harm.

I have updated the IMT Social app, a social media platform intended specifically for micronations. It is made alongside the IMT Network, a VoIP phone network between micronations.

It now has the following new features:

  • Removed calling (The IMT Network, NOT IMT Social already has this)
  • Added ability to delete and edit comments
  • Improved online indicator

You can test it out here: https://imt-social.base44.app/

Aurelia is sad to announce that we will not be issuing out certificates for the Aurelia Micronational Technology Idea Competition, since there was not enough submissions.

If you don't know what that is, a few days ago Aurelia announced that it will be holding a technology idea competition between micronations. However, it did not get enough submissions (only 1 true submission). Therefore we will unfortunately have to cancel the competition.

If you have any tips as to how to get more submissions in the next competition, please comment your tips here.

Since a lot of people told me that the previous flag was not very good vexillologically, I have decided to change the flag of the Democratic Republic of Aurelia. I have tried to keep at least some of the symbols of the original flag while making it better vexillologically.

  • The balance scales were added to symbolize democracy.
  • The four pointed star represents the four major government officer types:
    • President
    • Prime Minister
    • Founder
    • Other ministers and officers
  • The colored stripes are Aurelia's national colors:
    • Purple
    • Blue
    • Lime/green

I hope you all like the flag!
