[DISCUSSION] Sony still refuses to accept live services reality after Horizon Hunters flopped

https://wccftech.com/playstation-strips-live-service-horizon-hunters-gathering-after-failed-retreat/

Everyone has been telling sony from day 1 that their live service formula is either too generic or too pandering to non-paying audiences and yet they still refuse to accept reality and keep throwing money at their projects expecting them to succeed without changing the core issues.

[DISCUSSION] How much of the current RAM price is real vs artificialy inflated?

https://wccftech.com/ddr5-ram-prices-explode-to-nearly-5x-july-2025-levels-in-germany-as-ai-boom-chokes-budget-pc-builds/

All the ram makers keep pushing the date of when ram prices will come down and they sure would love that, but considering how many datacenters keep getting cancelled wouldn't it be time for some government to do some auditing and see if the current inflated prices are actually driven by demand or it's just good ol' price fixing by monopolies.

[DISCUSSION] Will the future of budget gaming be integrated graphics only?

https://wccftech.com/entry-level-gpus-were-gamers-last-hope-but-pc-partner-says-severe-shortages-arrive-in-second-half-of-2026/

Even entry cards like the 5060ti are already reaching 1k in most retailers and memory keeps getting pricier, if this trend continues even a super entry card like a 5050 would be prohibitively expensive for someone looking to build a gaming pc. And forget about playing AAA games...

[DISCUSSION] New Wolverine game is going to underperform

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sGDtgDUNgQ

As more and more videos keep coming showing the gameplay it seems it's going to be one of those games that rely on cinematic and cut-scenes with gameplay that holds the player hand to avoid getting lost while doing quests. There is an audience for that but I doubt it's big enough to cover the game development cost.

[NEWS] Hogwarts legacy 2 confirmed

https://wccftech.com/hogwarts-legacy-2-official-warner-bros/

I really liked the first game (sans the occasional random npc that had a bit too much to say about its irrelevant life and wouldn't let me cancel the side quest) so I'm also looking forward to the new one. I sure do hope they add some online pvp though, I'd love to have some siege style battles there.

[DISCUSSION] Zelda Botw VR mod

https://wccftech.com/bettervr-mod-breath-of-the-wild-vr-reverse-engineering/

Personally I think Zelda BotW is one of the best games to port to VR, most of the fighting mechanics fit it perfectly. If only nintendo could stop keeping everything isolated in their under-performing consoles I bet there's plenty of people who would buy their games if they were in steam or other storefronts (but mainly steam).

[DISCUSSION] Take-Two CEO - You will own nothing and be happy

https://wccftech.com/take-two-ceo-low-latency-cloud-gaming-10x-installed-base/

"I think we'll be in commercial streaming mode within three years.

...I do think it creates a great opportunity for titles that are broadly desirable, even outside of core markets. And we do have titles like that, obviously"

Not only they expect you to preorder their digital-only copies of GTA6 but they also want you to pay subscription for cloud gaming.

[DISCUSSION] Preordering digital games shouldn't be a thing. Don't let GTA6 get away with it.

https://wccftech.com/take-two-gta-6-preorders-unprecedented-no-disc/

Quoting Take-Two CEO

"We've received exceptional pre-order reception to GTA 6. I'm not gonna tell you how many units we've sold, or we're selling, but I'd say that the sales are unprecedented and astonishing and astronomical, and that we don't know how to translate that into numbers yet."

The fact he isn't revealing any actual numbers means that the total amount of preorders isn't that big but I still want to encourage other to not fall for such a scam as "digital preorder", if you want the preorder extras just buy it one day before release. It's already bad enough they want to get away with their AAAA price tag the must not get away with implementing digital scarcity.

RTX 5090 & RTX 4090 in a single machine with the magic of VMs | ~$10/day

I started using Salad around February of this year. Last year I had managed to buy a 5090 before the pc marked went crazy (I bought my 5090 during black friday 2025) and was using my 5090 and 4090 to play around with LLMs, I even bought solar panels thinking I was really gonna enjoy the heck out of my generative AI... but the hype rapidly wore off so I was left with a couple of cards I didn’t know what to use for and extra electricity… crypto was over and done years ago and other platforms like Vast.AI asked for server grade setups with public ip, and the other “casual” options paid only in crypto which was a big no for me.

After doing some research I stumbled upon salad and it hit that sweet spot of not asking for server grade setups, uptime of 100% or having public ip and ports open, while also having the option to redeem my earnings in normal currency or in steam/amazon cards (I wish the tax for buying paypal gift cards wasn’t so high, though).

Now a bit of a personal experience. Since my machine was originally used for LLMs it had quite a bit of RAM (lucky me I also bought my RAM when it was at its cheapest last year) so I did the experiment to install proxmox, set 2 different VM and pass-through one GPU to each machine, luckily proxmox recognized my PCIe splitter so it all went smoothly and I have been mining without problems like that for months now. I know Salad doesn’t officially support running in VM and the linux build isn’t nowhere near to going public but I think the current proxmox build is good enough to be included as a supported method, besides the usual GPU pass-trough you only need to add a kvm-off parameter to your VM config file and everything works fine.

Kind of funny that everything started with me wanting to create my own ai waifu, which motivated me enough to buy a whole workstation plus solar grid system, then discovering that current ai is nowhere near of what I expected, and finally ending up leasing all my gpu power to others to do their own AI/machine learning stuff.

I regret nothing!
