Stimulants and EDS

Hey everyone!

Just popping in here to see if anyone has experienced this while taking stimulants. Has anyone else had stimulants help keep them awake just enough so that their body can't nap anymore, but they desperately wish you could because you know that would help alleviate EDS? It feels almost like my insomnia I experience at night now, but during the day. Like, yay, I can stay awake, but only to just not be able to nap when I wish I could, and now that's a different kind of struggle that feels just as bad, but in a different way?

Edit: thank you all for sharing your experience! It really feels like I'm frozen in a state of mind-numbing paralysis.

MSLT

I've had two opportunities to nap, and so far I haven't. The tech keeps reassuring me that it's okay because we still have three more to go. Feeling defeated and like a fraud. I don't know what to do.

Hey everyone!

Sorry in advance if this is a weird question or one that has already been asked. I'm two weeks out from my sleep study, and I'm wondering if you all have any recollection of being hyperaware of blinking or swallowing saliva while attempting to nap? And then assuming you're awake because of that? Any input or feedback would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Hey everyone!

I'm currently scheduled for my sleep study and MSLT. I will have had to wait 7 months for my test in July. I was just curious, as my naps have really evolved over the last 6 months. Have you all ever been asleep and felt like you could open your eyes at any moment? I know that's a weird question, but earlier on today, I felt my tactile hallucinations kick in like the floating away feeling or paralysis, and knowing that I could open my eyes and be awake (?), so therefore I'm not actually sleeping? Just wondering if anyone else could speak to this phenomenon, as I'm worried it might interfere with my study. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Hey everyone!

I'm fairly new to this sub, as I am waiting for a diagnosis, but I've started carving out time to nap every day during lunch, and I've stopped being able to tell if I'm actually asleep. Is this a common experience? It makes me so worried about a sleep study in the future. Sometimes I feel better after I attempt to sleep, and other times I don't and that isn't helping my anxiety about it.
