Gardyn not turning on

Hello! I have my gardyn plugged into a working outlet, the green light comes on on the power cable. I have it turned on from the back of the lid, however when I press the silver button, nothing happens. Any ideas what’s going on? I just got this used gardyn, so not sure if it’s just broken? Thanks!

My friend gave me his Gardyn that he doesn’t use anymore, so I’m downloading the app. I don’t want to pay for the membership and was just planning to use the free version.

But it looks like I can get free plants during the free trial and then just cancel, is that accurate?
