Hey everyone, not a bee keeper, just a huge fan. We have two hives at a property I maintain in Center City Philadelphia. I find the bees super interesting and I've learned so much about them than keeping just from the post on here. Anyway, yesterday the one Hive was acting a little strange I was not on site but one of my co-workers reported that they were flying all around excessively, someone even posted a video on social media from down on the street with one of our Hive buzzing all over the place. At the same time a bunch of them had balled up on the outside of one of the boxes, I've seen this in the past when it was really warm and I was explained that they were just probably trying to keep the hive cool. This morning, after everything had settled down they had actually built some comb on the outside of the box. And then after further investigation we found a bunch of them balled up on a tree in the amenity space. Two questions, what's going on here? Is it safe for residents to be outside with them balled up on the tree as long as everybody leave it alone? Appreciate your help in advance, we have contacted the company that supplied and maintains the hives. Yesterday prior to the swarming video on the street, they told us this was normal behavior, today we're having a hard time getting a hold of anyone.
