Abolishing prisons is going to be a massive wedge issue

I was talking to my friend about this because we love how much the socialist movement has gained steam, but I wonder if this will be the hill that the movement potentially dies on.

Maybe I’m wrong but the average American hears abolish prisons and they think you’re going to set murderers free as opposed to abolishing for profit/private prisons. No matter how much you campaign for wanting to help working class people I see this being a massive hurdle.

The average American is not sitting around dissecting statements on an intellectual level or seeking out more information to internalize a concept.

The powers at be are going to have a field day running campaigns against this slogan alone. In fact I fear this will be such a massive wedge issue that they’re probably gleefully jumping up and down about this one statement.

Are there any plans in place? I could easily see the GOP for example waiting until the last minute to bring this up to scare voters into jumping ship. It’s only a matter of time.

The phrase “the U.S. isn’t a democracy” is billionaire propaganda

I keep seeing “leftists” say this recently. Here’s why your messaging is billionaire propaganda.

American is a country founded on representation. We literally fought an ENTIRE American Revolution over our government needing to properly represent us.

Now are everyday Americans being represented? No, but you going around saying we’re not a democracy makes people lose hope and inadvertently causes people to give up and surrender their rights.

The messaging should be that our politicians are suppose to represent everyday Americans, but they choose to represent the wealthy and corporate interests instead.

That is a simple shift in language that actually makes sense instead of you going around spewing billionaire propaganda that we’re not a democracy.

The kind of billionaire rhetoric that the “uS iSnT a DeMoCrAcY” is what I would expect from MAGA.

Guys we all know woman and minorities didn’t have representation when America came to fruition that’s not the point of this thread at all. Had we simply given up because “the wealthy are suppose to be in charge” then we would have made ZERO progress. You’re the EXACT person this thread was made for.

Somebody always tries to one up you in this subreddit 🤦‍♀️
