My boyfriend has been getting into music production lately. His birthday is coming up and I'd love to get him a MIDI keyboard. Even after lots of research online, I'm still unsure what would be best for his use case, and I don't want to spoil the surprise by asking him for too many details, so I'll just throw this out to the community.

• I can't afford to pay too much for it (100€ is my upper limit, ideally I'd get a used one for less)
• He uses Linux, so there should be USB compatibility
• He has piano playing experience
• He doesn't have a lot of space in his apartment and likes to travel, so maybe something relatively portable
• I think he'd appreciate pads, knobs and the like (not just the keys)
