Help me decide what to do with my life

Happy Sunday lol. I just turned 27 and have no idea what path to take. I am currently working as a lawyer (2PQE) on 95k (excl. super) and have just over 90k sitting in a HISA and 10k invested in shares. I moved back home at the start of the year and don’t have any plans to buy a house or start renting again. I despise working and always find myself sick and miserable. I really want to have a year off to travel, but I’m scared it’s a bit risky this early in my career (just started a new job as well).

I just want people’s opinions on what they would do in my position. I think the plan is to stay in this role for another year and hopefully at that point I would have closer to 130k. But is it worth draining my bank account for a year of travel while all my peers buy houses and get married lol.

If you were me, what would you do?

Law is horrible, what do I do?

Hello,

So I’m currently regretting choosing law as my degree. I’m 2 years PQE and honestly hating the profession.

I started a new job as a building and construction lawyer last month, but I’m already seriously questioning whether I’m cut out for law. The late nights and early starts are soul crushing, and from what I’ve seen these issues seem pretty widespread across the industry.

I have the opportunity to move into a graduate program with a government organisation, or I can stick this job out for a year or two and then take some time off before moving into a role that’s hopefully less demanding.

Does that kind of role actually exist? What would you do in my position?

The end goal realistically is to save up enough money and move somewhere where I can run my own business. But until then I need to save up.

pls save me from this stress

Shoes stolen at hostel

Had a pair of expensive Salomon runners stolen from a hostel in Milan while showering. I took them off briefly, came back and they were gone within minutes. Hostel staff said only one person checked out during that timeframe and I strongly suspect it was them, but obviously I can’t prove it. I did confront them and they were shaken up but unfortunately they denied taking them. I have their personal information.

I’ve filed a police report, I know it’s super unlikely I’ll get them back but I’m willing to keep pushing on it since it was such a horrible experience.

Has anyone had something similar happen while travelling in Europe? Did police/hostels actually follow up or was it basically a lost cause?

NAB/Citibank International Fee

When my Citibank account was transferred over to NAB, I was specifically told that the no international transaction fee benefit would still be honoured. I’m currently overseas and have just checked my account to see multiple international transaction fees charged.

Has this happened to anyone else? Did NAB refund them after contacting support? Really loved opening my bank to all these fees 😭😭😭

and yes, I’ve reached out to them.

UPDATE Taxi Scam

Original Post: https://www.reddit.com/r/lisboa/s/41RqD9PYDr

Hi everyone, I lodged a formal police complaint due to the above incident. The ministry of public prosecution has come back to me and requested that I take part in an interview. I don’t speak Portuguese as I am from Australia, but was wondering if anyone could shed light on the process. It has been almost a year since the incident.

Thanks!
