2020 Volvo XC90 aftermarket hitch and OEM wiring install
Good morning - yesterday I installed a CURT trailer hitch on my 2020 Volvo XC90 as well as the FCP sourced Trailer Hitch Control Module (for models with aftermarket tow hitch). Installation of the hardware went smoothly. The hardware engineers are cheering.
I installed VIDA on a MacBook Air (Apple Silicon) / Windows 11. I bridged the USBC Network adapter connected to a VOE OBD to Ethernet cable, and VIDA saw the Volvo/allowed me to download the appropriate software update. The installation failed at 11% in the preparing state. The car power cycled numerous times during this process. In reviewing the VIDA log files, there are numerous connection issues - leading up to the failed installation.
All of this to say, I've made an appointment to have VOLVO flash the module. A few things I was considering doing:
- Installing on an x86/Windows laptop and trying again.
- Installing a switch between the VOE OBD to Ethernet and the laptop, as I've read some people indicate this stabilizes the connection.
