What does your country pride itself on doing well, but in reality, it doesn’t?
And vice versa, what do people in your country complain it's terrible but it's actually quite alright?

I'm not referring to long-term issues like unemployment, high debt or things like migration handling but decisions that can be clearly linked to a single vote or law either by a referendum or an act of the politics. As an example think Brexit.
I would be especially interested in the opinions of women for obvious reasons but everyone is welcome to contribute.
How do you think the general treatment of women varied in the different countrie you have lived in? I'm talking about roles, expectations, the general attitude towards them.
Anecdotes are welcome too!
