3 WEEKS, 3 Days, 3rd Child

Stephen and his wife Tabitha King famously stayed at The Stanley Hotel on October 21, 1974 (edit exact hotel stay date is unknown) in room 217. During their stay King was inspired to write the story The Shining. In January 28, 1977 The Shining was published. On February 21, 1977 The King’s third child was born.

King cleverly hid his unborn son’s birthday and the room number of the room he stayed in at The Stanley Hotel into The Shining.

Let me show you.

King’s third child Owen King born on February 21, 1977.

Image 2-
In the story the word REDRUM is reflected in the medicine cabinet mirror. The mirror reflects the letters in reverse order to show the word MURDER. redruMMurder

In the story, the attempted redruM is set to occur on December 2, 1977. 77-12-2 year-month-day

In conclusion, 3 weeks and 3 days after the publication of
The Shining, Stephen King’s third child was born.
Somehow he predicted the exact date of his son’s birth.
3(weeks)
3(days)
3(children)

Trebled - it means multiplied by three or three times.

On The Wagon

ON THE WAGON

The phrase "On The Wagon" refers to an alcoholic that has quit drinking.

Book: "So here's what," Jack said. "You set me up an even twenty martinis. An even twenty martinis, just like that, kazang. One for every month I've been on the wagon and one to grow on. You can do that, can't you? You aren't too busy?"

THE DONNER PARTY

When the Torrances are driving to The Overlook in their Volkswagen, they are reminded of the Donner Party.

Film: "Hey wasn't it around here that the Donner party got snowbound?" I think it was farther west in the Sierras."

THE OREGON TRAIL

The Oregon Trail begins in Independence Missouri. The Donner's set out on their journey from Independence on May 12. This was A Month Later than they should have left in order to beat the winter storm. In July the Donner's met a man named Hastings who told them about a shortcut. The Donner's decided to take the Hasting cutoff, but the shortcut wasn't a shortcut at all, and it took another month away from their race to beat the clock. Two months of precious time was lost. Then they crossed the the desert and had to repel multiple Indian attacks. By the time they reach the Sierra Nevada mountains they were out of supplies and food and livestock. They arrived in the Sierras on October 31st where George Donner's family wagon broke down. George Donner cut his had very badly when he was trying to fix the broken axle, forcing him to stay behind while the party went on. The blizzard began and that is when The Donner party became snowbound. October 31st

CLOSING DAY

Book: Ullman tells Jack The Overlook is closed from September 30th until May 15th. Seven and a half month.

Film: Ullman tells Jack The Overlook is closed from October 30th until May 15th. Ullman also tells Wendy that all of the guests had left the day before. Landing the day they arrive at the hotel on October 31st.

THE AHWAHNEE HOTEL

The Ahwahnee Hotel is the location the interior of the film's OverLook is modeled after. Kubrick must have used this particular hotel because it is located in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and was built on Indian ground, right on top of the people the ground belonged to. The builders then kept the artifacts to decorate the hotel with.

JULY FORTH NINETEEN TWENTY-ONE

The developed, black and white photo at the end of the film is dated July 4th 1921. The Forth of July represents Independence MO the beginning of The Oregon Trail- On The Wagon- Jack's sobriety.

The year 1921 represents prohibition. Not drinking alcohol. On the wagon. (9/21 is Stephen King's birthday who was also struggling to become sober when he wrote The Shining.)

A MONTH LATER

the Donner Party met its demise because they began there journey to California a month later than they should have. Leaving as late in the season as they did completely erased their margin of error. Forcing the to become two months behind schedule and arriving in the Sierras on the exact same day they would be come snowbound where they had to eat the bodies of their dead in order to survive.

The Overlooks season ends on September 30th. The film has the end of season as October 30th, and the Torrances arrival on October 31st. the very next title card after CLOSING DAY is A MONTH LATER. Thursday December 1st 1977. The exact day Hallorann gets the distress call from Danny in the book.

On Closing Day in the film, Jack is reading a men's magazine and the issue date is January 1978. Magazines are distributed in stores a month in advance. Therefore it is December and that is why he has the January issue in hand. This is mirrored in the book the day Jack secures the job at The Overlook. He stops at a payphone to call his friend AL (alcohol) to thank him for getting him the job, and he buys a copy of the October Writer's digest, letting the reader know that Jack secured the caretaker position of responsibility in September.

THE REAL CLOSING DAY

In the book, on December 2nd, REDRUM day, Danny thinks to himself, "this the real closing day.'

The film actually beginning in December accounts for the two months missing from the timeline, mirroring the amount of time the Donner's were set back.

When Jack tells Ullman, in the film, that five months of peace is exactly what he wants, he is saying this because it is December. They have already been at the hotel for two months. September to December = 2 months

Jack later tells Wendy, in the film, he has agreed to take care of The Overlook until May the first (MAY DAY distress signal).

December 1st to May 1st is 5 months

Film: When Wendy told the doctor in the Boulder Apartment scene that Jack hadn't had any alcohol in 5 months (on the wagon) July to December is 5 months

And when she told the doctor they had only been in boulder for about three months- September to December is 3 months

DAYS OF THE WEEK TITLE CARDS

Film: The days of the week title cards in the film are TUESDAY, THURSDAY, SATURDAY, MONDAY, WEDNESDAY. counting by twos Tuesday to Wednesday is one week and one day. The one week represents the part of the book that Wendy wanted to ask Jack for a divorce. Instead of talking then, he asked her if they could talk about in a week if she still wanted to. A week passed but they never did have the talk.

on WEDNESDAY Jack says to Wendy "you want to talk? what do you want to talk about?

Two days later would be FRIDAY DECEMBER 2nd 1977. (actual calendar date)

TITLE CARDS 8AM AND 430PM

This represents the one day- May Day! May Day! REDRUM! Friday December 2nd 1977. The Real Closing Day

We know the book takes place on a day inside of the book for many reasons. Some of them include the fact that Jack knew that Charles Gradys name was really Delbert. The name Delbert is only mentioned in the book.

when Tony tells Danny to remember what hallorann told him, "they are like pictures in a book" he is remembering what hallorann told him in the book in Chapter 11 The Shining.

when jack knew the sno-cat (a snow groomer -smooth talker) was disabled even though we never actually see him do it, he knows because he's remembering the book

same with the radio, he doesn't destroy it in the film because he already smashed it in the book the day Danny went into room 217. it happened before Thanksgiving.

when Jack tells Lloyd the bartender in the film the thing that Wendy won't let him forget happened THREE goddam years ago, he's remembering what happened in the book.

movie 1980 - book 1977 is 3 GODDAM YEARS

This is a super condensed way of describing an extremely complex story line and I'm sure I'm leaving out things you will have questions about, if you are interested, serious questions only please.

“I Think He Did It To Himself”

Room 217: Danny knows his mother will blame his father for the bruises, just like she has always done in the past. And Danny knows his daddy will get angry with mommy if she blames him for the bruises. It’s the one thing she’ll never let him forget and he hates her for it.

And she does automatically blame Jack. Just like Danny knew she would.

So Danny says “It was her, daddy” when they find him at the top of the stairs with bruises on his neck💄

Jack is so pleased at the thought of Wendy getting the blame, that he treats Danny to a big dollop of cooking sherry from the kitchen to calm his nerves. That way Danny can explain to them what has happened. Danny tells them a story about a dead woman in the tub, Jack goes to check it out, he reports back that nothing is there.

Danny does it to himself to get alcohol. Addicts manufacture ways and reasons to drink.
