How many of you are on booking platforms

I posted here a few days ago asking about a reduction in bookings and if other photographers were affected by that.

What transpired is that I am clearly not the only photographer dealing with a reduction in bookings and that many photographers around the world are affected by it.

So my question is, how many of you are working with booking platforms like Airbnb, Smiler, etc..?

I‘m trying to see if the tide is shifting towards needing booking platforms to find work or whether there are still successful independent photographers out there?

Would appreciate some returns as my own business relies more and more on these platforms.

Reduction in bookings

I‘ve been running a photography business in Paris for the past 5 years rather successfully. About a year and a half ago I noticed a dip in bookings, nothing tragic, but definitely a 10%-20% reduction. Quite a few of my colleagues are reporting the same.

So I wanted to ask photographers on a wider scale, is anybody else dealing with this?

My best theory is that there are more and more photographers, and even though I feel like there are more and more people booking photoshoots, there are simply too many of us.

Would love to hear your takes :)

How do I improve power, duration and length? (OF MY DREAMS)

Wrote that title right after waking up don‘t judge me lmao

I finally had 4-5 lucid dreams in a row, each one lasting a few seconds before phasing out, before managing to get back into it. (WBTB and holding nose shut RC)

I was dropped into a new scene every time and was more or less lucid and could definitely choose what I was going to do next, but I could not really control the dream (I was unable to spawn a football) or hold it for more than a few seconds (I tried spinning in a circle as that is supposed to help?)

So my question is, what other tricks are there to keep lucidity last longer? I am not sure why I woke up, could have been my heart rate, general exitement or just lack of practice.

Same question for how to improve my control over the dream, not being able to spawn a football despite having a crispy clear image of it in my mind is telling.

Regarding full lucidity, does that just come with time? Now that I‘m awake I‘m thinking that if I would be back in the dreams right now I would do things differently. So I probably wasn‘t fully lucid?

Apart from that, THIS IS INSANE. It‘s straight up reality with every of your senses working. Can‘t wait to get into dogfights in a WW2 plane or visit foreign planets. The possibilities are endless and I‘m so thankful that I learned about lucid dreaming early.

Any answers would be appreciated. Also happy to just chat.

I will not promote - Life of a founder

6 years ago I dropped out of uni, moved to Paris, worked as a photographer assistant and production manager for two years before opening my own photography business.

After 4 years of grinding I noticed quite a few unaddressed problems in the photography market and decided to take matters into my own hands. For the past two years I‘ve been working on a mobile photography marketplace (connecting clients with photographers) and a few weeks ago I finally finished V1.0.

THIS LIFE IS HARD AS F\*CK. Risk, stress, time/money invested, and the sheer hope and optimism required to keep the boat afloat is insane. While battling development complexity I always thought that once the app is done my life would get easier. IT GOT MORE STRESSFUL.

Cold outreach, company creation, dealing with accountants, lawyers and the administrative side, burns you the F out FAST.

On one side, I‘ve achieved something that most people never do, actually shaping my life the way I want it to be and be completely independent.

On the other side I can‘t help but to feel a bit behind. Friends have good jobs (although everybody is scared for their job), go on paid vacations, and generally live a relatively stress free life. I, on the other side am fighting a war every single day, hoping that the past 2 years of grinding weren‘t wasted time.

I don‘t know what I‘m trying to say here, just venting I guess. Think carefully about what you really want in life. Do not pursue a „cool idea“ because it makes sense it the moment. Try to attack your idea from every possible angle, if it still stands after, ATTACK IT AGAIN.

Not trying to deter anyone from pursuing an idea, I just want to raise awareness of the immense cost that comes with it. Obviously not every idea/product takes 2 years to reach a production ready stage, but still, think carefully and be aware that everything takes twice as long as you‘re anticipating. Also, nobody gives a sh\*t until your product is live and generating revenue.

I am pre launch, and although I am addressing actual problems, have founder fit, am connected in the industry and have a solid production ready product, business plan and roadmap, it‘s still uncertain if I‘ll have success.

Greetings out of Paris,

A founder.
