Omakase notes- notepad, but better. My prompt engineering showcase

I love notepad. I get optimisation anxiety when I use obsidian or notion or mostly any other text editor apart from neovim.

So I made a notepad for myself.

Then I wanted to minimise context switching to access my Al so I built ways to have it right there at the cursor.

I broke pi, kept the auth and createAgentSession, and threw away everything else. Then I put it in my own harness. I call it sushi.

The point is to have an app to take notes, and have your cursor be the primary target to access all of the app's features. No windows, menus, sidebars (I have one for navigation right now but I am taking that out in my next build)

I think I'm ready to share a test build for people to try out. Not ready to open the repo yet until I harden some security stuff and de-slopify a little.

Will drop a link to a web page with the executable in my next post or maybe here in this post ASAP. I just gotta get the web page up.

Let me know if this looks interesting to you! My immediate next target is to get a webpage up with some docs.

PS: I was so excited, I did a screen record. Hence, the low quality. Next time I'll use obs and link to YouTube directly.

Will release more stuff on this YouTube:

omakase notes

PPS: I am a civil engineer. Not a dev. This is completely vibe coded. But I've tried really hard to get into the weeds and make it well. I'm going slow and steady. Been at it for 3 months at this point.

Project level skills/extensions are OP

I've spent the last month using pi on one single project every day after my day job. I'd been using it for a few months but always on disjointed, one one off tasks. But using it only on one project has made me appreciate control pi gives you on its context window. I'm creating skills, extensions, even new personas for pi where I completely hijack the pre-loaded directories path and inject my stuff. None of this has to transfer over to any other project, I don't need features or interfaces. I just need the fastest way to find high value context within the structure of my repo. And then have workflows and scripts that only work in the context of that project. There's no pressure to handle edge cases or design a tool end to end. As there are more problems, either the tool expands or I make a new one. I can chuck the ones I don't need in a void and forget them. It's such an unlock to have this realisation. My global pi can work completely different from the project level pis. I've been having this realisation over the last month and I just fucking love this software

I'm so mad I can't even take a screenshot. Just don't use deepseek v4 pro.

Reposting because I totally doxxed myself earlier. I was really angry and wasn't paying attention. This was the original post:

Deepseek v4 pro, ladies and gentlemen. Read the skill, said there were no scripts, proceeded to use the tool cli instead of the interfaces I made for it.

For anyone wondering if it's good, no it's not. Just use flash for straight forward tasks and stay the fuck away from v4 pro. It is retarded in a few special ways but so fucking retarded that the good parts aren't good enough. Use Kimi or glm or gpt if you aren't poor like me. Or qwen or something, idk. Just don't use v4 pro. I'm so fucking mad right now.

Edit: For those about to say the skill isn't good enough, literally every other model can use it properly because the fucking path to the fucking scripts is in the fucking skill. So don't even try to defend this window licker.
