KALAMKHANA 002 // TALHAH YUNUS (Concept Design Project)

Second artist for Kalamkhana, it's TY!

I'm gonna go through six of my favourite Pakistani hip-hop artists over the next week, with each of them having a distinct color identity, brought together by a cohesive design language. No AI was used.

See you guys tomorrow for the next artist set!

Concept Design Project: KALAMKHANA 001 // TALHA ANJUM

This is a follow-up to my previous post on this sub: https://www.reddit.com/r/PakistanHiphop/comments/1uyvq6i/kalaamkhana_looking_for_thoughts_and_feedback_on/

Kalamkhana is a conceptual platform celebrating the distinct identity of Pakistani hip-hop. My aim here was to combine a digital ASCII style with the raw underground street texture and a refined editorial design. The goal of this personal project is to hopefully get my foot in the music industry as a visual designer, fingers crossed!

See you guys tomorrow for the next artist set! (I hope that's okay mods, if not, please let me know and I'll figure out a different way to post the whole set.)

KALAAMKHANA - looking for thoughts and feedback on personal design project

Hey guys, I'm an art director + brand designer, and I've been working on a personal project revolving around the Pakistani hip-hop scene. The idea behind it is to make a complete design language that is able to integrate different artists into a cohesive style. On top of that, I wanted to come up with a complete concept that is believable and realistic, but still different from what we've seen in the past.

The goal of this personal project is to hopefully get my foot in the music industry as a visual designer, create festival visuals, album covers, etc.

So let me tell you about the project a bit. The project is named KALAAMKHANA, which is inspired by Coke Studio, and the direction I went in for this series is electronic versions of existing songs. And the visual language is extended from that concept. It's a combination of pixel art + ASCII art, which felt very fitting to me. No AI was used on this, all done by myself.

I started with an initial proof of concept using YS, which you can see above. I need some feedback from you guys on what direction is better. And what you think of the overall concept. Once I've finalised the initial concept using YS, my plan is to expand it to several other artists, with each artist having a distinct color identity.

I plan to make a complete visual identity, including merch concepts, poster concepts, album art concepts, festival ticket/armband concepts.

Let me know which direction makes more sense to you guys, and why. I'm also open to further ideas and feedback, but of course retain creative control on how the final project will look. I just want some feedback and thoughts from other fans of the PHH scene.

Thanks guys!
