Titanium frame handle chefs knife

Here’s a short look at the most recent piece that I made. The blade was forged from W2 and differentially heat treated. The handle is a frame construction where as the titanium frame fits into the stainless steel bolster and is secured using a hidden retention nut. The scales are stabilized masur birch and are held on by 9 bronze pins as well as epoxy throughout the frame. All pieces have been heirloom fit to add some extra layers of craftsmanship. The blade has a convex geometry that’s nice and thin behind the edge and a balance point right at the makers mark.
I also inlaid some mother of pearl into the scales. I couldn’t help myself. Thanks for looking!

This is a video of a piece I finished up a little while ago. I call it a tall bunka, but it maybe too tall to say that even. Whatever the case it’s a really nice piece and super fun to use. It was forged from w2 high carbon tool steel, differentially heat treated and features a piece of rare curly black Siamese rosewood for the handle that’s been heirloom fit to a decorative fire blackened steel bolster.
