Newly Diagnosed

Hi everyone!

I have been recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes on Friday, and was prescribed Metformin 1000mg XR taken twice a day (so 2000mg total) and the side effects of the Metformin have been horrendous to deal with so far. It was also discussed with my doctor that I will be also taking Ozempic in addition to Metformin starting next week at my next appointment.

I have been taking the Metformin during meals and have been trying to keep my meals healthy and less likely to irritate my gut and the symptoms, but I am very new to this and have a lot of changes I need to make regarding my diet which I am working towards.

I also have PCOS/PMOS that has been unmanaged up until now so it will also help for this, I also have AuDHD so maintaining a healthy food relationship/regular food schedule has presented a challenge for me my whole life, so I recognise this is going to be a huge lifestyle change.

I am hoping you could share some insight on what foods helped you get through/minimise your side effects and just some general information on what foods/eating regimes helped make changing your whole perception on eating easier.

Thank you!
