Match Neuro with a board fail and subsequent LOA?

Hi brain docs!!

I found out today I failed Level 1. I’ve wanted to be a neurologist ever since I found out what they were.

Obviously, failing Level 1 puts a wrench in these plans.

I can either test again in 2 weeks or take a year-long LOA. I’m scared to test so soon and potentially fail again so I’m leaning towards the LOA.

I know I’m already at a bit of a disadvantage as a DO, now a DO with a failed Level 1 and potential LOA.

My question is this: is neurology off the table with a failed Level 1 and year-long LOA. I plan on doing neurology specific research and volunteering during my leave, while studying for my retake. I was very close this time around, so I’m confident I can pass the retake.

But I want to know my chances for matching the specialty of my dreams lol.

TIA!!

Level 1 Fails… why so many

THIRD post today lol, I just have so many questions sorry.

Anyone else feel like there have been way more fails than normal today (as someone who also received a fail today)?

Is this Reddit bias? Or are July exams curved less?

Wondering what’s going on.

Fail to Pass in 2 weeks possible?

So I failed.

Do we know if a pass is possible in 2 weeks? Otherwise I have to take a LOA.

Looking for kind/genuine advice.

COMSAEs were:
290 (school one, predicated)
460 (school one at start of dedicated)
350 (1 month and 2 weeks out)
370 (1 month and 1 week out)
450 (school one, 3.5 weeks out)
420 (2.5 weeks out)
435 (1 week out)

TrueLearns were (on average, with fluctuations):
50s the month before
60s the week before

level 1 pass - comsae/TL thread

congrats oms-3s!!

for those who passed level 1, do you mind sharing your true learn scores were on random blocks leading up to the exam and your comsaes? and also how close to the pass line you were and/or how close to average?

i’m hoping this will save a lot of you guys some dms from nervous test takers like myself.

also, anything HY you guys recommend we focus on?

yes i copied and pasted a previous post but i was told it helped some people.

FA rapid review: worth it or nah?

hi friends!!

i test next week and i’m wondering if going through first aid’s rapid review sections (and maybe the anki for it) are a good use of my time?

to be clear, i’m not in an immensely good spot rn and still have stuff that could still use my attention.

thnx!!
