BCA Final Year, No Internship, DSA Not Clicking - Is Cloud/Implementation Consulting roles a Realistic Pivot?

I'm in my final year of BCA (graduating 2027) from a tier-3 college in India. I've applied to dozens of internships on LinkedIn, Internshala, Naukri, Indeed, Unstop — either no response, or the companies look sketchy. I don't have any internship or job offer yet.

My current skills: JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, MongoDB, Express. Built a notes-sharing app and a real-time chat app. Have freeCodeCamp Responsive Web Design cert, AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials, and AWS APAC Solutions Architecture virtual experience (Forage).

The problem: I started DSA recently for MAANG prep but I'm not solving a single question on my own. It feels like I'm wasting full days learning things I don't understand while my peers already have offers. I also can't spend all day applying to jobs because building projects + DSA + applications = 36 hours in a day.

I'm considering pivoting to cloud/infra roles (Cloud Engineer, Implementation Consultant, Associate Software Consultant) because:

  • I see these roles at companies like Siemens, Accenture, TCS
  • I have some AWS/Linux exposure from virtual programs
  • It seems like DSA is less of a gatekeeper here

My questions for people actually in these roles:

  1. Is this a realistic pivot for a BCA fresher with no internship? Or am I just running from a hard problem (DSA) into another hard problem?
  2. What certifications actually matter? I have AWS CCP. Is AWS Solutions Architect Associate enough to get interviews, or do I need Terraform, Kubernetes, etc.?
  3. What's the day-to-day of an Implementation Consultant vs. Cloud Engineer? I see "Polarion," "ALM," "Datadog" on LinkedIn — are these just buzzwords or do I need deep product knowledge?
  4. Which companies actually hire freshers for these roles in India? I'm tired of applying to black holes.
  5. Should I completely drop DSA, or keep it minimal (like basic arrays/strings) while focusing on cloud?

Be brutally honest — I need reality, not motivation.

How can I maximize my chances of getting a software or cloud internship?

I'm currently pursuing a BCA.

I know Java, FastAPI, React, Node.js, Docker, CI/CD, Git and AWS basics and have also built 2 full-stack projects.

What would you recommend I focus on to maximize my chances of getting internships?

Should I:

  • Learn more DSA?
  • Build better projects?
  • Get AWS certifications?
  • Learn Kubernetes?
  • Contribute to open source?
  • Focus on networking and referrals?

I'd appreciate advice from students and professionals who recently secured internships.

I'm worried I'm spending months learning the wrong things. Experienced developers, what would you do in my situation?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently pursuing a BCA (Final Year).

So far I've learned:

  • Java
  • Spring Boot
  • React
  • Node.js
  • SQL
  • Git
  • Docker
  • CI/CD
  • Basic AWS

I enjoy building real-world applications much more than solving algorithm problems.

The problem is DSA.

I've genuinely tried learning it multiple times, but I struggle to stay consistent and don't enjoy spending hours solving LeetCode.

Because of that, I've started considering careers like:

  • Cloud Engineer
  • Associate Cloud Engineer
  • DevOps Engineer
  • Implementation Consultant
  • Associate Software Consultant
  • Solutions Engineer

I'm honestly feeling lost.

If you were in my position today:

  • Which career path would you choose?
  • What would you spend the next 6–12 months learning?
  • Is cloud a good choice for freshers?
  • Am I making a mistake by moving away from pure software engineering?
  • What would you do differently if you started again?

I'm looking for honest advice from experienced engineers.

[Student] Resume Review - Is my resume competitive enough for Software, Cloud, or Consulting internships?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently pursuing a BCA in India and am looking for internships and entry-level roles. My primary targets are:

  • Full Stack Developer
  • MERN Stack Developer
  • Java Backend Developer
  • Cloud Engineer
  • Associate Software Consultant
  • Implementation Consultant

I'm applying across India and am open to relocating.

I've attached my resume as requested by the subreddit guidelines.

I've been applying through LinkedIn, company career pages, Internshala, Wellfound, and other platforms, but I'm not getting as many interview calls as I'd hoped. Before I continue applying, I'd like to understand whether the issue is my resume or if I should be focusing on improving my skills and projects.

I'd really appreciate honest feedback on questions like:

  • Would this resume realistically get shortlisted at your company?
  • Which sections immediately look weak?
  • Do my projects demonstrate real engineering skills or do they look like tutorial projects?
  • Which skills should I add or remove?
  • Is the resume ATS-friendly?
  • If you had one month to improve this resume, what would you focus on?

Please be as honest as possible. I'd rather hear difficult feedback now than continue making the same mistakes.

Projects Suggestions ??

Hey guys, I installed reddit recently.

So I want all of you guys to suggest some high level projects that I could build to add into my resume.

I am not talking about some clone websites or the things that thousands or lakhs of people's have already built but some great ideas that could actually seek attention, could be used and impress recruiters.

Please if anybody has a great idea that I could work with and can present it confidentially.
