Listening to 105: I'm Not Here Anymore today

Not as long as 019 or the 210 excerpt, but still pretty lengthy. I've heard this song apparently has a "unique ending" to it. (Not 100% sure what that means but I guess I'll find out lol)

Edit: I just got done listening to it, and like... holy shit. I knew it'd be good, but this might be my new favorite BoH piece. I'll write a proper review tomorrow when I'm not sleep deprived lol. (Although I won't be spoiling the ending because I think everyone needs to experience it for themselves.)

My thoughts on 266: An Incestuous Act That God Committed Upon Reality

Yeah idk there's not much to say about 266. Only reason I'm making this post is bc I wanna review every BoH song I've listened to, and this is literally 10 seconds long. (Not to say that it's impossible to do something really unique in that little time)

I will say, the lack of the usual BoH logo, and the cover contrasted with the title is kind of unnerving. The titles rarely match the vibe of the cover, but here it kind of feels intentional, again because of the previously mentioned absence of their logo.

The song (if you even wanna call it that) itself is especially weird. It sounds like they just stuck a microphone underwater for 10 seconds and called it a day. This could be another instance of Neil and Clayton just dicking around and doing something purely for the sake of doing it, or there could be some cryptic hidden meaning behind it that we'll never know. (Kinda doubt that though)

As of right now I'll just give it a 5/10. Also because I might as well mention it, LXIV (which is part of the roman numeral series) gets a 5/10 as well for similar reasons. It'd be funny if someone randomly sneaked one of these short BoH "songs" into a game as a sound effect or something lol.

My thoughts on 019: Hypnosis, Drugs, and Mind Control

019 is definitely one of Bull of Heaven's first truly long pieces, coming in at exactly 8 hours. This is also one of their most hypnotic tracks. It often ended up blending into the background noise, but not in a bad way!! Ik I say this about a lot of BoH songs, but this one is perfect for putting on in the background while doing something else. 8 hours definitely SOUNDS like a lot, and it is. But not once did I find myself getting bored of it, which is REALLY impressive for a piece of music this long. (This is actually now the second longest song I've listened to the entirety of)

One of my favorite parts of this song, and why it never got boring to me, is the time signature. I'll be completely honest and say that I'm not SUPER knowledgeable when it comes to this kind of stuff? But I'll try to explain why I like it so much lol. The way the bell-sounding instrument sometimes shifts slightly, even doubling occasionally, prevents 019 from becoming too repetitive, and honestly makes it kinda fun to listen to.

One thing however, is that a lot of people say 019 is good for sleeping, which I could totally see being the case. For some reason though, every time I've tried to fall asleep to it, it ends up keeping me awake and distracting me with the time signature changes. Idk if this is just a me thing, but I end up focusing way too hard on it. This isn't really a flaw by any means, just kinda weird considering 019 was literally made with this idea in mind iirc.

Anyways, this is definitely another favorite of mine, and I'd definitely put it on the list of songs that people who are new to BoH should listen to first. Solid 9/10.

Listening to all of 019 today

I would say wish me luck, but this is definitely one of their better works, so this shouldn't be too bad.

207: I Watched You Enter Your Home From Inside a Dumpster

This one comes right before the third (and last listenable) bull trilogy, and it's 7 minutes of ominous-sounding piano improvisation. It's nothing super crazy, but it definitely sets the tone for the existential dread that's soon to come. Even without that context, this is just solid tbh. I really don't have much else to add, I highly recommend this one since it's a lot easier to get into. 7.5/10

Man, I sure am glad there isn't a hyper-extended and heavily edited version of this that lasts over a month! 😊

...

(208 scares me ngl 😭)

My thoughts on 112: Conquer! That Is enough 113: The Light Higher Than Eyesight and 114: Come Forth, O Children, Under the Stars

https://youtu.be/S33pVXgiG90?si=nkPordBe-zfLiN1k (112)

https://youtu.be/Wtp55vRHZeQ?si=17UUbcZgq9ZPPCe4 (113)

https://youtu.be/UOnZI1qS-z4?si=DQU3LCiDtzsM4KWT (114)

Somehow I ended up listening to this trilogy backwards lol. Anyways, all three of these (especially 112) are pretty basic, but they're just nice to put on in the background. It's another case where it actually feels weirder when they stop playing. (Especially since they just cut out)

114 is probably my favorite of the three since it's just the previous two songs combined into one, and it ends up sounding pretty trippy and cool. I don't really have much to say about these. They're just solid, and they don't overstay their welcome.

112: 7/10

113: 7/10

114: 7.5/10

Also I didn't hear the glitch(?) at 20:00 when I listened to 114, and despite knowing about it when I listened to 112, (I looked up reviews of it as I was listening) it still startled the shit out of me lol.

Haven't listened to it yet, but here are my thoughts on the controversy surrounding 121: O Nobly Born, They Are Not Really Precipices.

Like if you're gonna laugh at the reptilian guy you need to accept the fact that he's still a very real person, and that you're a hypocrite for getting mad when they sample these sort of rants for reasons outside of just making you laugh.

Already listened to this a while ago, but uhh 335: You Can't Buy Shoes in a Painting.

Decided I might as well make a post about this one, and uhh yeah it's something lol. Funny concept with an unironically solid beat. My only issue with it is that actually listening to it is... eh? At some point, everything between the first and last loop is just kind of audio mush, and it kinda loses its appeal going into the slowest part. Idk how to describe it, but eventually listening to it just gets really repetitive. Still a fun idea though.

I'd probably give this a 7/10 just bc of how good the beginning is. (And technically the end ig) Maybe it'd be better on a second listen who knows.

Listened to 108: Did You Know That the Bible Have the Answers? yesterday

Kinda wish there was a bit more variation, but it's still really good! Not much else to say, just a cool sound. 8/10.

Finally listened to Poured Onto That Marble Slab.

One of my new favorites from the band ngl. The beginning is really strong, and the rest of the ambience genuinely helped me stay focused. (I put it on in the background)

Ik this isn't super detailed, but uhhh idk I'm kinda bad at this lol. It just made me feel weirdly nostalgic for some reason. Probably another 10/10 imo. (I'm enjoying the bangers while I can before I have to listen to shit like 146 or the parts of the Aleph series that aren't 4 or 9. 😭)

One of the first BoH songs I fully listened to. (124 - Be Not Taunted Thereby, Nor Terrified, Nor Awed)

This song has just always given me such a weird feeling, and it still kinda gets to me even now. Something about the song itself + the cover just paints a really disturbing picture in my head, I'll try to describe it the best I can.

The song itself sounds calm and relaxing, even a bit nostalgic, but it's just slightly off in a way, especially when the distorted vocals come in. It gives me the feeling of seeing someone you've known your whole life, like a close family member, in a completely unrecognizable, delusional state. They're still there, and they still remember you, but you know that they're not the same, and you have no idea what they're going to do. I think another reason why this comes to mind is the previously mentioned vocals and cover. I closely associate the two together, and because the vocals are pretty much incomprehensible, it feels like someone is just going on and on about something that doesn't make any sense, and the person in the cover has this effect over them that just makes them look completely alien. Idk maybe I'm alone on this, but this is just what came to mind for me personally.

...Anyways I'd probably give this a 10/10 as well lol. I don't mean to give literally EVERYTHING they make such high scores- but this one just really stuck with me, and it's definitely one of Bull of Heaven's classics. Plus they have quite a few shitposts that definitely aren't as enjoyable as this sooo yknow lol.

GD - EVENTOTHEEDGEOFDOOM preview

I've been working on this for a little while now, and I'm actually kind of close to finishing it. There are just a few things I need to do.

  1. Add effects for each change in the music

  2. Make sure the level doesn't desync

  3. Make the endscreen

  4. Obviously add decoration

Not sure how this community will react to a gd related post, (I wouldn't be surprised if this gets taken down) but uhh hopefully well lol.

Still probably one of their most well-known songs.

Technically I just listened to it for the first time without any pauses or breaks lol. Anyways yea I really like this one!!

Only BoH could immediately go from shitposting to dropping one of their darkest tracks ever lmao

Just found this hidden gem while scrolling through this playlist and I decided to listen to it. One of my favorites so far tbh.
