Long story short, I had a huge pothole and lost steering capability and smashed into a barrier. The damage isn’t crazy but the parts and labor are really expensive (Tesla). The car is worth about 18,000 to Carvana, and I just got the estimate today that the repair including labor is gonna cost 18,000. Insurance is deciding to let them fix it instead of totaling it which I’m surprised about.
My question is, when is it worth it to ask them to total it instead and give me the money versus fixing it? Should I only ask them to do this if I want a new car?
Most of my teeth are okay except my top middle 2 and my bottom middle 2, they're very crooked and wonky (on my bottom row one tooth is like turned 50% behind the other one). I went in for a consult and to my surprise they only quoted me about 1 year for treatment (24 trays). I accepted it and they gave me the first 2 trays at 2 weeks each a bit later.
The trays got very easy to put on and off after about day 10 so when I went in I asked why some people got 7 or 10 days and the assistant told me younger people have more moveable roots on their teeth. She used her finger to touch my teeth and I guess none of them wiggled so she said I could do 10 day trays and gave me 6, she also mentioned we could talk about 7 day trays when I returned if everything was good. I also got IPR (teeth shaving) during this visit.
This now makes it that my 1 year estimated treatment is only ~8 months which is awesome. My question is, should I even be asking for the 7 day trays or accepting it next time I go in? This would shave off another 6-7 weeks. I'm 35 years old so I don't know how concerned I should be about how well my roots move. Also if they offer revisions I would probably deny since I've read many stories of it extending treatment for 6-12+ months. I'm going on dates and the invisalign makes me a little self-conscious and I've had crooked teeth my whole life so if they ended up like ~95% straight I would still love it. I'm on my 5th tray now and I can't tell if there's much progress because of the IPR but it feels a little bit straighter.
