VIN match

Hi - I ran the VIN on this bus and ChatGPT told me it is "a 1967 Deluxe Microbus — the Samba, which in '64–'67 form means a 21-window: eight side windows, two rear windows, and eight skylight windows, with the wider rear door introduced in 1964 having deleted the rear corner windows of the earlier 23-window." It clearly doesn't have 21 windows.

Here is a photo of the bus and ID plate (note, the last number is in fact a 1, not a 4). I looked for the stamped number in the engine bay - no luck. I also looked for the M-plate behind the passenger seat. Again, strikeout.

What might have happened here?

I struggled with this timeline. Someone correct me please if I have it wrong:

Here’s the timeline as the show presents it:

1950 — Dick Whitman, a PFC, is in Korea. The explosion kills Lt. Don Draper; Dick swaps dog tags and assumes his identity.

1951 — “Don” returns to the US.

Early 1950s — Works as a used car salesman in Pennsylvania.

Mid-1950s — Moves to New York. Writes copy on the side while working at a furrier (this is where he meets Betty, who’s modeling). Talks his way into a junior copywriter role at Sterling Cooper.

Late 1950s — Climbs the ranks at Sterling Cooper.

1960 — Promoted to Creative Director. Season 1 of the show begins.

So, roughly 10 years from foxhole to corner office. That seems really fast.
