🏳️‍🌈 Owosso, hate has no home here. 🏳️‍🌈

Owosso, hate has no home here. Next Saturday, we come together to celebrate love, community, inclusion, and PRIDE at Owosso Pride!

Many of you know me as the drag queen who hosts Drag Queen Storytime, but outside of performing, I’ve proudly worked as a public school educator for over 10 years. Throughout my career, I’ve taught Special Education, K-12 Music, and grades 1st through 5th. One thing I’ve always believed in is simple: treat people the way you want to be treated.Drag performers are entertainers, community members, educators, and human beings deserving of the same kindness and respect as anyone else.

Pride is about creating a space where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and celebrated exactly as they are.

We invite you to come experience the joy for yourself at Owosso Pride next Saturday!

Get money out of politics?

A few months back, I told you about a petition drive that some of Michigan's most powerful corporations were hoping that you would never hear about since that, and that video has been watched more than 750 000 times, which helped me. A lot of people are paying attention. I've got an update and it's a big one.

This is so what, Michigan, where we cut through the noise and explain what's really at stake for Michigan voters. Here's the deal. The group behind the petition is called michiganders for money out of politics or mmop for short. Their goal and political donations from utility companies like DTE and consumers Energy band corporations with state government contracts from donating to the lawmakers who oversee them and force dark money groups to disclose who's actually funding their political ads to make the November ballot, they needed just over 356 000 signatures by May 27th, and officials say they had nearly 100, 000 more than they need.

https://miunited.org/en/michiganders-for-money-out-of-politics-mmop/

They're planning to turn them in, but here's something worth knowing. This proposal is still facing some major resistance from some very powerful opponents and. In consumers, this ban on political donations would also cover businesses with state government contracts worth more than 250 thousand dollars, and that includes Blue Cross Blue Shield.

It's the largest health insurer in which contracts with the state for Medicaid and state employee health insurance and reportedly operates a political action committee that spent more than 550 000 in 2024 alone, collectively Blue Cross, DTE, and consumer suspend millions of dollars, lying the campaign accounts of our state lawmakers.

Meanwhile, our costs have climbed, and their profits have soared. Reports show that both parties have been cashing in on this system. So, why does this still matter even if they've collected enough signatures? Because making the ballot is just step one under Michigan law. Once the petition qualifies, the legislature gets the first crack at it.

They can pass it, directly reject it, and send it to voters or put it competing. Alternative measure on the ballot alongside it, and given how much money flows from these corporations to Lansing and? Make sure to just wave this one through. You want to sign the petition before the May 27th deadline.

Go to their website. Additional signatures still send a strong message. So, what we'll show more than 80 percent of michiganders support Banning these kinds of political donations. The campaign says. It has the signatures to make the ballot, but now it heads into a legislature that has been bankrolled by the very interest this proposal would cut off.
