Alta Via 1 rain and storms - Advice and backup plans?
I’m planning on 3 days / 2 nights of the AV1 this weekend, but the weather isn’t looking promising. Best case is looking like constant light rain, worst case some thunderstorms in the late morning, based on a few different forecasts. (I know afternoon thunderstorms are common.)
Plan is Passo Giau > Rifugio Staulanza (night 1) > Rifugio Vazzoler (night 2) > exit via Rifugio Capanna Trieste or Passo Duran.
My backup plan if storms make a day’s hike impossible was just to hire a taxi to/from the rifugios. Is this easier said than done though? I’m reading some mixed reports about the ease in getting a taxi.
Also, I’m no stranger to a rainy adventure, but any advice on if a few days’ rain makes this all just not worth it and I should reconsider? I have the bookings already so I’m hoping the AV1 is still a positive experience even with the rain, but looking for some opinions.
