All the CAPs in Signal Blue & Ultra Red available starting tomorrow - what are y'all getting?

From the email:

In the early days of EVERGOODS, two vivid colors appeared in our lineup for a brief period. Inspired by technical mountain gear, these high-visibility hues were designed to stand out when visibility is a matter of life or death.

We named them: Signal Blue and Ultra Red.

Both were produced in extremely limited runs, sold out, and haven't returned since.

That changes tomorrow at 8am MDT.

For the first time in 5+ years, Signal Blue and Ultra Red are back, fully stocked across all three CIVIC Access Pouches: 0.5L, 1L, and 2L.

Unlike the initial run, the quantities are not limited. For years, you've asked for these colors through customer surveys, waitlists, emails, and social comments. Tomorrow's release is built to finally meet that pent up demand.

We're also restocking many of our bestselling pouch colors, including several that have been unavailable for months.

CTactical CT14 Plus - (Very) Initial First Impressions

--

I got my hands on this backpack earlier today. I am so impressed. I'll post a detailed review after having used it for a few days, but I'm really looking forward to using this as my daily EDC bag, and possibly as a personal item on flights.

A few things that stand out immediately:

  • As an Evergoods fanboy, I thought they were the absolute masters of volume wizardry, but CTactical has blown me away with the capacity that this bag is able to pull off. Like Evergoods' bags, it seems like CTactical's can carry off much more than their stated capacity - 25L in this bag's case. I have a somewhat heavy daily carry, and one of the reasons I love using my CPL24 is how it fits all of that without breaking a sweat (or seam). The CT14+ is giving it a run for its money.
  • This bag is an organizational dream for my use case. There is seemingly a place for everything that I need to carry, and everything fits just so. Reaching for anything I need just seems so intuitive and easy. Also, I love a bag that maintains its structure and shape with everything in it - another reason I keep reaching for the CPL24, and another reason I'm falling in love with this bag.
  • The shoulder straps aren't plush or luxurious, but they are super-padded and comfortable. The bag feels good on my shoulders and back, even though I'm not able to wear it high and tight like I prefer. But I like how it conforms to the shape of my back and feels close and locked in. The sternum strap does seem to make the bag a little tight and uncomfortable on my chest, but I haven't played around with it enough to decide whether I'll keep or remove them.
  • This is the first time I'm feeling/using Robic Nylon, but it seems like a flexible and durable material. I love its appearance - not too shiny, not too matte - and how similar it looks and feels to Evergoods' 840d ballistic nylon.
  • The one disappointment so far is the side water bottle pockets - even when they're unzipped with the somewhat stretchy gusset in play, seem too narrow to be practical.

Non-EG close contender?

For those of you here who swear by Evergoods' backpacks, what other 20-22L backpack has come close in terms of overall comfort and usability? Extra points if it stayed in your rotation as a backup to your EG pack.

Why I will be returning/selling the Fyro Citta 18 L backpack

I’m a big fan of Aaron and the Nomads Nation team. Their wide and deep coverage of carry gear was a big part of my backpack-fiend origin story. Like a lot of us here, I was excited when he launched his own gear brand. I gave the Levo a skip because a large travel backpack wasn’t what I was looking for, but was definitely keeping an eye on all the reviews here and on YouTube praising its weight, comfort, and organization.

I was all in when Fyro started talking about an EDC backpack, and so when things started taking shape, the 18L Citta really stood out. I’m not a fan of X‑Pac, so the 25L was never for me.

All the pre-launch marketing definitely had me hyped, and Aaron being Aaron, seemed like he knew what he was talking about with all the deep research into and final choice of material, the organizational design approach, and the crazy emphasis on comfort.

As a teacher with a longish workday, I carry a sizable EDC load - including tech, food, drink, and paperwork. The Evergoods CPL24 has been my daily driver for the past few months, handling everything comfortably and keeping it all organized. But on days when my schedule changes a little, and my EDC isn't as heavy, I was hoping for something smaller. I thought the Citta 18L would be a good idea, and might even train me to be more efficient with my daily carry. I was one of the first few to order it during the July 1 launch drop, and it reached me a couple of weeks later.

After toning down my daily carry by about 70 % and making it as light as possible, here are the key reasons the Citta doesn’t work for me:

  1. Comfort: I think this was the biggest disappointment for me after hearing so much about how good the comfort is. The straps sit too wide on my chest and need constant readjusting to feel closer - at times, it almost feels like the bag is trying to remove itself from my shoulders. The sternum strap, when used, is just too tight. To be the most comfortable, I also have to loosen the straps so the bag sits lower on my back, and that's not a feeling I enjoy (Team High and Tight). The back panel feels rigid and stiff, and doesn’t conform to the shape of my back. After a few minutes of carrying the bag, I definitely started to feel some strain between my shoulder blades and on my mid-back. The straps themselves are okay, and I didn't experience all of that "marshmallow-y" softness when worn. This lack of carrying ease and comfort is my biggest reason to turn the Citta in
  2. Organization: It's heartbreaking that I didn't like a bag that has such a fantastic orange interior, but the layout appears tailored to specific use cases. I rely heavily on pouches for my EDC (an Evergoods CAP1 and CAP 0.5 mainly), and beyond the main chamber and front drop‑in pocket, I found little practical use for the remaining zippered pockets, especially the two large ones on the inside of the clamshell lid. I also didn't like how the tech pocket that's part of the laptop "TechBay" sits lumpily in the main area when it has stuff in it. Organizationally, the front admin section with the zippered pockets and the deep drop-in pocket were probably the best part of the bag for me
  3. Top QAP fabric: This may be a nitpick but the thin fleece‑like material used for the top quick‑access pocket just stood out by how much I didn't like it

Highlight of the bag for me: One of the things I really miss in my CPL24 is the ability to slip it off one of my shoulders and under my arm to access stuff in the front pocket - when fully loaded out, it's almost impossible given the size and weight of the bag. Sideways quick access is where the Citta really shines. Those two pockets on the right side of the bag are a dream for stashing and grabbing things like commuter cards, work ID/access cards, and a wallet or phone when on the go.

I really wanted to love this bag and was hoping for something to become my smaller, lighter EDC backup, but this is r/manybaggers, and maybe the one for me is still out there.

May 2026 refund received + query

Paper ticket monthly pass holder here. Pleasantly surprised to see a credit from the LIRR come in yesterday - that was quicker than I expected.

Anyone here know the rationale for the refund amount - iirc, it was ~4 days’ fare. Was that a one-way or round-trip fare?

Is the CHZ22 packable?

Looking for a 20-22L packable day pack for an upcoming trip. The Aer Go Pack 2 is still out of stock, and I know it's not the only option, but how does the CHZ22 score on packability? Can it fold flat enough to fit into a rolling carry-on or larger travel backpack?

u/driesvannoten's post has me thirsting for a tote all over again.

I've been a backpack user forever but I'm curious about switching to a tote for EDC use. These two have been on my radar: the WaterField Shinjuku Tote and the Evergoods CIVIC Daily Tote 24L.

I'm a Long Island / New York City commuter, mostly on commuter rail and subway. Here's what I'm dragging around every day:

  • 13" MacBook Pro
  • Work folder with documents "business papers"
  • Small (and flat) tech pouch
  • Sony over-ear headphones
  • Carhartt lunch cooler
  • 20 oz. Contigo Byron coffee cup
  • 20 oz. Yeti smoothie cup
  • 17 oz. Flat water bottle
  • Evergoods CAP0.5
  • Phone stand + small INIU Battery pack with cable
  • Pen

(I know. It's a lot.)

What I care about most:

  1. Carrying comfort is probably my biggest thing. I don't want to be that guy wrestling a bag back onto his shoulder every two minutes.
  2. Organization matters a lot - I like knowing where everything lives. Digging around isn't for me.

Here's where I'm at after doing a deepish dive on both:

The Shinjuku is the lighter bag. The anti-slip rubber handles are apparently legitimately good - I've read more than a few reviews specifically call them out. The slim 5" profile could be an asset on the subway. But it's only 16L and has zero laptop protection built in - you need a sleeve. With my loadout, I'd be at capacity every single day with almost no organizational control.

The CDT24 has the padded laptop sleeve, a dedicated document pocket, a pen slot, and all the organization that I admire in an Evergoods bag. The downside is very real strap slippage, and it's boxier and heavier.

My gut says the CDT24 is the smarter pick for my actual carry, but the Shinjuku could be the more enjoyable bag to carry, if I can cut back on a few things in my list.

Has anyone used either - or even better, both - of these long-term? Does the CDT24 strap situation get better over time or is it just a thing you learn to live with? And is 16L genuinely workable for a heavy daily carry or am I setting myself up for frustration with the Shinjuku?

Appreciate any real-world input.

Go on, tell us about that bag/sling/EDC item in your stash that makes you go "Huh.".

For me, it's this 21 Liter Top-Loading Backpack from Carhartt. I remember seeing someone in an airport rocking it and decided I just had to have it.

It's just a giant cuboidal bucket with a zippered lid - with possibly the flimsiest laptop slot/protection I have seen in any bag. And that's as good as the "organization" gets. The front pocket has little to no volume of its own and the zippers around the squarish corners are ridiculously clunky.

Make no mistake, I still love the bag, and use it as my gym hold-all, but every time I do, it makes me reconsider my opinion of the person I was when I bought it.
