What's it like living in Houston with a young family?

Hello everyone,

My husband got offered a job in oil and gas in Houston, and we're considering moving there. Haven't decided yet, but considering...

I'm a librarian and our kids are under 6. I speak Spanish, and have lived all over Canada and Europe. Our older kid has been enrolled in a Spanish bilingual school for the past year or so. Wondering what's the best or good area in Houston for a young family and how hard it's to get a job as a public librarian? Best schools and daycares for young children? Food? Culture? Is it hard to make friends?

I'm not super concerned about the heat or the traffic.

Thank you for your input.
