Why is there a hole in this chicken breast?

Husband butchered a couple of whole chickens from Costco - one had this strange hole/pit/divet in the breast meat under the skin. No discoloration or blood or anything else there. Is this safe to eat? Maybe a result of freezer burn?

Edit: skin on top was intact/no signs of a wound
