Hi all,

I’m expecting my first baby in October 2026 (yay!) A bit of context: my husband works away from home for a week at a time, so I would like him to have has much paternity leave as possible.

If I were to write that I am back to work in July 2027, with the intention of starting to work in September 2027/2028, would this mean that my husband would be able to have the extra 8 weeks for his parental leave? I know that this means I’m taking a short maternity leave, but I would love to have him home as much as possible.

We’ve figured out the financial situation, so no worries there, but I’m just trying to figure out the shared time off.
