Run N Gun was so fun!

I attended Run N Gun last night with my husband and just wanted to share my experience. Hudson aside, it was such a blast! What an awesome community of creative and talented people, the energy was so fun and positive and familial. Love a homegrown festival that is serious about being unserious. And all the films were SO impressive! The short Hudson was in with Zack Fonzovs was fantastic and funny and so well done, and the other main actor in it with Zack was great. Hopefully it gets released publicly soon. Taylor Zemlak, who Hudson mentioned in his Wonderland interview, was part of the make up/SFX team and they did a fantastic job. There were lots of films starring and made by people Hudson has worked on other projects with, and it was really cool to see familiar names and faces and how connected this community is — everyone is so damn talented! Hudson is a delight, obviously, and there was a lot of love for him as well a healthy amount of teasing and poking fun at the absurdity of his fame.

We were sitting in the balcony and were looking right down over Hudson when he came out during intermission. Initially he was just chatting with a few friends and event people, and it was so weird to watch from above as he gradually got surrounded by more and more people and phones. He was being super sweet and gracious but man, what a weird existence. I personally would hate it so much! (But my fangirl heart was still so tempted to go down there, I get it) Later on during the final films and awards he came back out to sit with his friends and it was nice to see him just being a guy in the audience, having fun with his film family. During the awards he was sitting right where people came off the stage and he was congratulating everyone, hugging people, and just generally being excited for people. What a sweetheart. After the show we were waiting in line for the after party and Hudson and his friends walked by us to go in through the back door, and he still had to show his ID, lol. We bailed on the party, though. The line was taking forever and it was 10:30 and we’re in our 40’s and had shit to do in the morning.
