Old Radhi vs S3 Radhi

There are so many thoughts running through my head since the latest episode dropped. It took me so much time to digest what has happened.

As the title suggests, I have been noticing so many changes in Radhi’s behavior in S3 compared to S1.

Which is good, and I was so happy that she has changed and come out by breaking the wall she had built around herself.

Today, she makes efforts to see her daughter, tries to initiate conversations, openly claims her as her daughter, and expresses her heart to Reena.

Tbh, this is the version of Radhi I wanted to see.

Radhi is a bold woman, a powerful doctor, and fears no one. She does anything for her family and is a good mother to her children.

On the other hand, when it comes to Reena, she is still a 15-year-old child. She doesn’t know how to handle Reena, and the trauma she faced in the past made Radhi wear a mask around Reena.

Even though she tries so hard to push Reena away, she really can’t give up on her and lose her.

Her love towards Reena was shown very secretly during the past seasons, but after Vijay’s entry, something changed.

In the present, she yearns for Reena, claims her as her own daughter, and expresses her love openly.

The same Radhi who feared that Reena visiting her children frequently, or the one who hesitated to keep Reena near her, has come a long, long way. Now, in S3, she makes Vijay understand that her children need Reena and vice versa.

The same Radhi who asks Reena to stay away as before now asks why she is not even speaking a single word to her like Sid and Divi.

The same Radhi who wanted Reena to go away from Chennai now yearns for her daughter to stay in Chennai.

“Enaku ethuvum ila nu therincha apro nee poiruva, naan than inga ukanthu nee varuvaiya pesuviya nu yoosichitu irukanum.”

She openly admits to Reena that she will miss her.

The same Radhi who shows some sort of fear of letting Reena get closer to her asks, “What have I done to her for her to hate me this much?”

I loved this show because of Radhi and Reena. I was so curious about how they would get together, what would happen to them, and how they would reunite.

I was wondering how they were going to face each other after everything that happened in S2.

This whole thing that happened in S3’s 40th episode left me breathless.

I fell for that bold, fearless Radhi in S1, but now I have fallen even harder for this version of Radhi.

I hate this cancer plot, but if this gives me more closure for Radhi and Reena, shows their love and bonding, I wish for more scenes like this, without harming Radhi. Please.

I don’t know if Radhi was conscious at that moment or aware that Reena called her Amma. But that moment... I don’t know how to express it. I was so happy and sad at the same time.

I don’t know how many times I have watched that scene, but every time, it made me tear up.

I don’t know what Deepak is about to throw at us, but I’ll still be here, holding on to that one moment where Reena called Radhi “Amma.”

No matter what happens next, I know this is one moment I’ll never be able to forget. After everything they have been through, after all the distance, anger, pain, and everything left unsaid between them… hearing Reena finally call her Amma broke something inside me.

I don’t know where this story is going, and honestly, I’m scared of what’s coming. But for now, I just want to hold on to this moment. This tiny little moment that somehow said everything they could never say to each other.

Please, Deepak sir… let this be the beginning of their healing. Let Radhi and Reena finally find their way back to each other. They have already been through enough. I just want to see them love each other openly, without fear, without running away, and without hurting each other anymore.

Why Always Radhi?

Why does society continue to confine women to restrictive stereotypes? I've been reflecting on this in the context of the Heart Beat series recently. Honestly, I love the show—the plot and the characters are so well-done. Season 1 is still my absolute favourite because the writing felt like such a breath of fresh air compared to your typical Indian serials; it really broke away from those old-school tropes. I particularly love Radhi's character arc: her boldness in commanding the hospital, the depth of her silent pain, and her unspoken care for Reena. The portrayal of a teenage mother hiding behind a cold exterior is handled incredibly well.

However, my admiration for the series has slowly started to fade. While Season 2 had its strengths—particularly the addition of Vijay and the poignant flashback that finally explained Radhi’s guarded nature, her struggles, her jealousy regarding her daughter’s closeness with Vijay, and her deep-seated fear of abandonment—I feel the writing lost its way toward the final episodes. It is frustrating to see the writers suddenly shift the narrative to make Radhi the Root cause for all the conflict, which feels like a regression after such strong character development.

I Don't know why the writers suddenly wants to make Radhi the reason for all the fuss happening?

While it is true that Radhi made a mistake by hiding the truth, her initial secrecy was motivated by a desire to protect Reena from the trauma she herself experienced. However, once the truth surfaced—especially after Vijay returned and the misunderstandings caused by her father were cleared—it felt like a missed opportunity for her to be direct with Vijay. I understand her hesitation; she was paralyzed by the fear of how Reena and Vijay would react, whether Reena would leave her, and how her family would handle the revelation. Even so, the way the Season 2 finale handled these conflicts felt inconsistent with her character, and frankly, the ending left me feeling quite disheartened.

Why is the narrative failing to adequately validate Radhi’s pain and trauma in comparison to Vijay’s? It feels like the show is unfairly questioning a mother’s integrity based on her past, rather than acknowledging that she has been present for Reena in her own way. Meanwhile, Vijay remains idealized despite his own choices, and he seems to escape any accountability for his own family’s mistakes. Why is the burden of conflict being placed entirely on Radhi when she has been the one navigating these complex challenges alone?

I’m honestly so disappointed with how Season 3 is starting off. It feels like the writers are dead set on making Radhi the villain, and it’s getting really frustrating to watch. She’s Reena’s mom and has been through so much, so why is the show acting like everything is her fault?

It’s actually painful seeing Reena just call her "Radhi" like she's a stranger.

It’s honestly heartbreaking watching Radhi struggle so much. She’s carrying the weight of her past while trying to keep it all together, and it feels like the show is just piling everything on her. It’s so unfair that she’s being painted as the villain or the sole reason for Reena’s trauma when she was just a teenager navigating a nightmare on her own. Watching Reena push her away and push for Vijay to remarry is just painful. Are they really going to keep making her the scapegoat for everything? I really hope the writers start giving her a break and let her finally get the healing she’s deserved all this time.
