Well, I could’ve predicted this would happen in Melbourne’s West.. Street racer crashed into me on the Ring Road
I’m lucky to be in the process of moving to the Mornington Peninsula, having grown up in the western suburbs. There’s a stark difference between drivers as you drive south east. Less dickheads, more courteous drivers.
Driving back out west last night a street racer in a Mercedes rear ended me, after they blindly changed lanes doing well over 100kph in the 80 zone on the ring road, trying to prove to another douche how fast they were. Of course they (let’s be honest, ‘he’) drove off without hesitation as I just avoided smashing into the barricade at the servo entry. Luckily someone decent stopped and told me they caught the driver’s number plate on dashcam.
Took nearly 3 hours for the tow truck to come out and now I can’t sleep as the sound and impact reverberates my chest. My first car, I’ve had for 10 years written off, can’t get to work tomorrow, insurance and money headaches.
Every time I hit the Westgate, it’s like brains switch off and drivers don’t care about each other’s safety. I love the west, my grandparents lived and worked in Footscray, but I couldn’t be more glad that I’m moving out of here.
