Konkani Folklore
Non-Konkani speaker here. Got to know about an evil spirit(?) called Balishthamaru. I found only one source, which says that it is created when three cats die at the same time. It has many variations. And it is a part of something called the 'marava' system (I can't find a source for this either).

Since I cannot find any other sources online (except for a couple of dubious youtube videos), I was wonderiing if it is an established story, or an oral tradition or something. Have you guys heard about it? Do you know of Konkani/English books, websites or articles where I can find out more about this?
P.S. Already looked at A.T.M. Jackson's book of Konkani folklore. No hits there.
