16 GB RAM for Engineering

Hello. I am a mechanical engineering student that will start their first term thos up coming fall. I saw online that the recommended amount is 32 gb of ram but could I survive with 16 gb? I really want a thin laptop, and was thinking about the zephyrus g16 16 gb ram model.

Spacebar and USB 10 gdps port sounds

I just got my g14 from best buy for 2k and I love it and it works great but I've just noticed 2 things that just keeps grabbing my attention

One of them is whenever I press down on the spacebar really lightly (light enough to not register), it makes like a crunching noise. Or whenever I just glide over it, it makes the noise. So I don't know if I'm just super aware right now or if that's a problem.

The other is the USB 10 gdps port on the left side of the laptop. When I plug it into the port, it makes a shkkk sound but I'm pretty sure it is a physical thing (metal to metal touching) so I'm just curious if I need to worry about that as well.

Will appreciate it if someone responds because this has been bothering me for uncontrollably!
