A Message from a Student to All Bodo Organizations

I am a Civil Engineering student at Bineswar Brahma Engineering College (BBEC), Kokrajhar.

When I first came here, I saw advertisements saying, "Welcome to Kokrajhar – The City of Peace." I was happy and hopeful.

However, my experience has been different. Even though BBEC is the third state government engineering college in Assam, the placement opportunities are very limited, and the infrastructure is in poor condition. Many facilities are not properly maintained. The college doesn't even have a proper entrance gate.

I don't understand why this is happening. When I compare it with Golaghat Engineering College, their campus is well-maintained and much more developed.

I also tried to understand the history of Bodoland, but that is the past. Today should be different. Unfortunately, during the recent tensions, the internet has been shut down multiple times. I was preparing for my examinations, but suddenly I lost internet access and couldn't continue my studies or clear my doubts.

As a student, this has affected my education.

I have one sincere question. As an Assamese student with the surname Kalita, studying in Kokrajhar, should I feel safe?

Education has the power to change the face of a society. A strong education system creates skilled professionals, responsible citizens, and future leaders. Instead of allowing conflicts and divisions to affect students, we should invest in better colleges, infrastructure, and opportunities so that the next generation can build a more peaceful and prosperous society.

I hope everyone regardless of community can live peacefully and ensure that students are never affected by conflicts.

If any of my words sounded harsh, I sincerely apologize. My intention is only to express my concerns as a student and to hope for a better future through education and peace
