Um ... I want what I see on the Raycast homepage

Glad to see v2 Beta out. It looks great on the splash pages so I installed it right away...well, I think I did. The UI I have is totally plain Jane and, in fact, I'm a little insecure as to whether I actually got the latest iteration.

  • I want what I see on the new release announcement materials (right photo)
  • But I got something that I can't distinguish from the original build (left photo)

In fairness, I didn't use v1 very long before installing the new Beta so it could be different in ways I don't notice. Still, the app I see in the new Mac V2 manual is not what I see on my screen.

I can't even convince myself I've got the v2 Beta because, oddly, the Desktop app nowhere identifies itself as such. The app itself is installed as Raycast Beta.app (no version indicated) and the build/version # is v0.66.1.0 (Beta). I think I confirmed that matches what's currently available via the download link on the v2 Beta announcement page, so I'm assuming it's the latest version available right now, but...

  • Why doesn't my install look sleek and cool like the UI on the release materials? And
  • Developers should really include a numeral 2 somewhere on the install (the App name or the version #) so one can tell they've got the recent release.

Explain the Handoff + AirPlay nexus: I lose control of my Music stream...

I don't understand the interaction between Apple Music running on iOS and my HomePod. I start playing Apple Music on my iPhone and point it to my Home Pod speaker via AirPlay. The music streams over the external speaker and everything's good. Then something comes up and I need to interact with Music (pause it, turn it down, switch songs, etc.). I pick up my phone, but Music.app on iOS is not actively playing anything. But the music is still on. It's like...HomePod has taken control of the stream away from iPhone. The problem with that is that Home Pod doesn't have a user interface.

I'll roll with however the ecosystem is meant to work, but how do I control Apple Music when it's being run through the speaker without any controls? I swear I can't even turn the volume down by pointing my phone at the speaker and pressing the volume up/down side buttons. Which seems like a fun-gap in the whole system...
