Needed A 12V Reset Today

Used my car this morning for a quick 1 mile each way trip. All was well. Used it again later and when I turned it on I got a “Check lane assist function” error message, which I thought was odd. But then I realized other things were weird too - no audio from the infotainment system (but beeps and other “car” sounds were fine), no cameras and no HUD. It drove fine though and the driver’s screen was working as expected. Let it sit for a few hours and the issues persisted. Did a 12V reset (negative battery terminal off for a few minutes) and all was fine afterwards.

First time anything like this has happened to me and I’m glad the reset fixed it. And, to be fair, we’re at the tail end of a nasty heat wave here in NJ (100° for three days straight) so maybe that had things misbehaving. Fingers crossed it isn’t a a new quirk that happens all the time! 😂

Tire Flat Spots and Charging Fan Question

Hello, fellow GV60ers. I have two questions for you all tonight. I have a 2024 Performance for reference. Here’s the questions:

- Have any of you gotten flat spots on your tires after letting the car sit for a day or more? I noticed it more since the weather warmed up. For the first few miles at 50+ MPH I get a vibration but it slowly fades away. I’m assuming that’s what it is, just wanted to make sure I’m not the only one. No TPS messages or anything and I’m pretty sure they’re inflated to spec. It’s not really surprising to me given how heavy the car is and how thin the sidewalls are. But again, just wanted to make sure it’s “normal.”

- Today my car was L2 charging in my garage. I have it on the lowest setting, so ~6.7kW. My wife went out in the garage, which was closed, and said the fans were loud. Sure enough when I went out there the fans were going full blast like they do when DC fast charging. I’ve never witnessed it doing this on L2 before - usually they’re just quietly humming away. Ambient temp in the garage was high 80s Fahrenheit, which it is often during the warmer months. SoC was in the 50-60s I’m pretty sure. It calmed down once I had the garage open for a few minutes - not sure if that was why or if it just reached a point in the cycle where the fans throttle down. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Again, just want to see if this is normal.

Thanks in advance for any insight you all can provide. 😊

Woke up to a dead 12V battery this morning - well, more accurately, woke up to a Home Assistant notification telling me I had a dead 12V battery this morning. I bought my GV60P used in February and after reading all about the "fun" to be had with the 12V battery and ICCU, I decided I wanted a Bluetooth battery monitor. I figured it would help me see some warning signs of imminent ICCU failure or, at the very least, help me understand the charging habits the car has without having to sit in the garage and watch for the yellow light all day. Looks like that was a good idea - and it's only been about two weeks! Anyway, I'm hoping those of you with more experience can help me understand what went wrong here. This is my first EV and although I'm pretty savvy, I'd like to prevent this from happening again if it all possible. I leave for work at 4:50am some days and would hate for this to happen on one of those days. FYI - if you didn't already know this, the horn/alarm goes full blast as soon as you connect a jump pack to the car. So have your key fob and change of underwear ready for when the horn goes off in your face with your head under the hood. 😂

Here's the chain of events best I can remember them:

  • Came home yesterday around 5:50pm, plugged car into Level 2 charger (left side of graph). It's worth noting that I have it set in the ChargePoint app to wait to charge until 11:00pm when I (am supposed to) get a discount from my utility. So although plugged in, it wasn't charging yet.
  • Big battery's SoC was around 33% I believe.
  • I leave the car unlocked in the garage as I always do.
  • Went in garage some time after 7:00pm and saw yellow light on dash. Normal for me, didn't think anything of it. The graph supports this since the voltage went up to 14V around 6:55pm. Looks like it was charging the 12V for about 35 minutes.
  • According to the graph, around 8:30-8:35 the 12V battery started tanking - dipped below 12V first, and then was at 8V two minutes later.
  • It then slowly tapered between 5ish and 3.5V as the night went on.
  • I jumped it at 6:15am this morning and left the car on for about an hour to revive the 12V.
  • I assume that since the 12V was basically dead, the electronics couldn't power up to support L2 charging as my normal overnight charge did not happen. SoC was about 31% when I jumped it.
  • It's been fine all day today and supported multiple short trips without issue. No error or warning messages on the dash and the car drove as it always has for me.
  • After two short (6 or so miles each way) trips, I let it L2 charge for about 2.5 hours and there were no issues there.
  • Digital Key and Proximity unlock were enabled and have been for weeks. I noticed an uptick in "your car is unlocked" app notifications when Digital Key is enabled, FWIW.
  • It was about 65-68°F in the garage during all of this.

So what do we think happened? Just a one off where the ICCU let the 12V dip too far and couldn't recover it? Imminent 12V battery failure? Imminent ICCU failure? Hopefully not the latter. This caught me by surprise since it was just a normal Tuesday and I drove the car to the same places I always do. I guess maybe the SoC could've been a little lower than usual, but I regularly dip into the 30s so I didn't think anything of it.

Any insight from the masses would be appreciated!

UPDATE: It happened again while typing this out, ironically. According to my Home Assistant logs there were no 12V charging sessions since I parked it at around 12:35pm today (it's now 4:35pm.)
