TrainerRoad strength calculator

So, that strength training is important for cyclists especially after 40 looks like a given nowadays.

The main challenge is that almost all the “literature” comes from the BB and powerlifting worlds, so I struggle to understand what to aim for.

TrainerRoad has this calculator https://www.trainerroad.com/strength-training-calculator which gives an idea about what your 5 reps should look like.

Do you think it’s reasonable?

Can I mount a XT crankset on a revolt advance?

Hello everyone,

I know the right way would be to get lighter and increase my FTP but with a shorter gear at 31/36 I struggle with 50mm tyres, a backpack and double digits off-road climbs.

1by would solve the issue but give me a big bill and far away gears which I don’t like.

The best solution would be a MTB crankset with a 38/28 or so, would it fit?

New Cinturatos, more confused than before

Hello everyone,

End of last year Pirelli presented the new gravel line which makes everything even more confusing as both the H and the M now come in Performance and High Performance version.

I currently have the old H in 45mmm, can’t say I’m not happy about it reason why I’m trying to keep it simple and don’t change brand (and have to choose among 1000 options).

I’d like a bit more comfort on gravel category 3 and 4, and I wouldn’t mind a bit more grip.

For the comfort I was thinking about going to 50 (I have clearance), for the grip I was evaluating the M instead of H, however both the bigger size and the new compound should give me a boost to grip as well…

What’s your thought?

Old school bike fit vs techie one

In my area I have 2 options, an old school bikefitter coming from the 90s pro ciclocross and cross country (he got some podiums at the World Cup back in the days) in his own shop or a chain which offers the latest tech (I think it’s called IDmatch) with all the big database algorithm driven approach automated machine (I’m not sure if the bike fitter is someone from the shop or they have a specific person rotating according to booking and follows the process).

Which one would you prefer?
