We have a very good candidate for a caterer and depending on our final guest count we're looking at anywhere from $16-22k in spend with them. We like everything they have offered and they even dropped a few small things we didn't care about to get the price per person down.

The only issue now is that we didn't realize they add a 3% fee when paying with credit card. This is a huge turn off for us as we are huge credit card points travel hackers and it truly hurts to see so much spend not get us some sign up bonuses or at least points for the spend. I know that if we pay with our chase sapphire card it will likely code as 3x so effectively we get back our fee back in points but we'd really prefer not to be effectively buying points when we could be earning.

With such a high spend (at least for us), would it be reasonable to ask for them to waive the fee or make some sort of other concession? We don't wanna come off as bargain hunters or pushy in a way that makes them not wanna work with us, but I'd love to hear if any of you have had success with this or any other input.

Thanks in advance!
