Too much new growth? How and when to cut them?

I think I might be having too much new growth from the root ball. My question is when should I trim it out, and how do I pick which ones to trim? Thanks

Does the post-write cringe ever go away?

I have been writing for a few years now and I know I've gotten much better. I've hired freelance editors who work at big publishing houses and have experience with my genre (middle grade) read my drafts and give positive feedback on the writing (and a lot of feedback on the plot). But still, when I reread my work, I absolutely cringe. Does this ever stop?

Is my character's voice annoying? (1st chapter, Middle Grade Reality based Horror/Fantasy)

Hi- I am working on my first novel, a middle grade book that I guess I would call Horror/Fantasy but based in reality. I am writing from the 1st person perspective of an 11 year old boy, and I wanted the tone to be humorous, but I can't tell if he's annoying? Any feedback would be appreciated!

Main tree finally showing life - Keep all the new growth from root ball?

We had a very harsh winter in zone 7a (Princeton, NJ) and my tree is finally starting to bud out. I'm thinking it might be too late to see any fruit this year, but I was wondering if I should keep all the new growth coming out of the roots, or keep it? I heard that keeping the new growth sucks the energy away from the established branches? Thanks!

I have this fig cutting that grew leaves way before I saw any roots (I had stupidly kept it in partial sun from the beginning). Anyway, I moved it into a room that gets almost no light and I can now see one small root, but am wondering if i should keep it away from sun, or put it back in the sun? Also, i had slightly been over-watering i think, so not sure if i've doomed it. Many thanks!

Hi- I'm currently working on my first draft (middle grade horror fantasy). I have a decently detailed outline, but as I'm writing my first draft, I feel like it's just a further fleshed out version of my outline. I notice that if I try to make the sentences "sound good", my OCD tendencies make me start to obsess over each sentence. To avoid this, I'm thinking my first draft will be pretty sparse in terms of detail, and way under word count. Does anyone else work this way, or does your first draft include pretty sentences? Thanks!
