Tap water in Cambridge

I am about to start uni at downing this October and am currently worried about the tap water situation. I’m from Yorkshire and here we have great tap water. However, when I was in London, the tap water was really gross and hard. So how is the tap water in Cambridge? And, if your room has a sink, can you drink it straight from the tap? Does a water filter jug helps with the hardness of the water if there’s any? Thank you xx

I have had a dig on the internet but announcements of the log placement eg on reddit has always been a few days late? (required confirmation from google reviews etc) I heard that safetravel.is also shows if the log has been placed. But is that also the quickest way to know if it has been placed? Or is it mostly people attempting it and realising that it has been placed?

This also leaves the question: who places the log

Thank you!!

I think the average time to hike Glymur waterfall and back is 4h. The internet says to bring 0.5L of water per hour which turns this into 2L. Is this how much water people normally carry or are there rivers/ streams that are safe to fill up? (eg the water at the top of the waterfall)

Hi!! I am hoping someone could answer this question. I am looking to do a few hikes in Iceland and they are mostly popular trails eg Glymur, Reykjadalur, Svartifoss etc. I intend on using my phone mostly for directions. However it would put my mind at ease if I also hold a physical map with me during my hike and also for a nice keepsake. Do visitors’ center sell physical maps or give them out for free?

Also, what about the ‘lesser known’ hikes eg Múlagljúfur Canyon, Hengifoss?

My campervan rental company offers a free Iceland physical map but I don’t think it is detailed enough for hikes. Thank you!!

I will be in Iceland in May and want some advice for what to pack. I am dead set on my waterproof hiking boots. However I will be doing the Glymur waterfall hike and walking behind Seljalandsfoss. Do I need a waterproof cover for my shoes as well or is it an overkill?

I am going to 'wild' hot springs/tubs and also boogey lagoons as well, should I bring sliders or crocs? Would I get stares if I waltz in with my bright red lightning mcqueen crocs?

Also, since I am staying at campsites, is wearing crocs to walk from my campervan to the facilities a good idea? I am concerned about rain, mud etc
