2024 Zero SR: Drive belt snapped at 4,000 km – Is pulley replacement normal? Warranty experiences?

I’m looking for some advice regarding my 2024 Zero SR. I’ve only put about 4,000 km (approx. 2,500 miles) on it, but the drive belt snapped unexpectedly while I was riding last week.

The bike is currently at the workshop, and they told me they need to replace both belt pulleys along with the new belt.

I have two main questions for the community:

  1. Is this normal? Should a belt—and especially the pulleys—really be failing or needing replacement after only 4,000 km? I mostly do street riding and haven't encountered any major debris.

  2. Warranty Experiences: Has anyone dealt with Zero’s warranty regarding the drivetrain? Since the belt is technically a "wear item," I’m worried they might fight it, but 4,000 km feels like a defect or an alignment issue rather than standard wear and tear.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with the 2024 models? I’d appreciate any insights before I move forward with the repair.

Thanks in advance!
