I have an inquiry

Played around without a vise today. Had a really good time. I once saw a picture of a guy who had a hand vise of sorts. It’s a blurry memory from a past life or something but I remember seeing a small vise connected to a leather glove leaving the thumb and forefinger free. If anyone knows what I’m talking about or knows of something similar, please let me know. Without a vise is fun, little slow and sloppy. But I’m sure I’d get used to it

Wets

Feeling inspired to tie some wets, mostly because of u/norm-frechette. I tied this little box on some vintage mustad hooks. Although fishing was my focus when tying these, I learned quite a bit. My next’s wets will focus more on aesthetics. Wing size, shape and body/tail lengths will be my biggest corrections next time 🏴‍☠️

Classic Caddis wet fly

I recently started tying wet flies, and after some googling for inspiration I found an article I think it was called “gaudy wet flies” but there was a red and gold version of these that I really like and looked much better than mine haha I do not have red guinea fowl so I tied it like this, with some classic salmon fly flair. Namely the tag/butt/head. According to the article these are bass flies and were sold in orvis stores until 1905, which means someone was fishing them at least for awhile. I’ll be tossing these soon to see what happens. 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️

“Percival”

There’s a remake of little house on Netflix and it’s pretty good. And I’m finally on the cusp of being done with my bus remodel which means I get to leave Florida and be mobile again. And get back to tying classics haha

🧚🏻‍♂️🧚🏻‍♂️🧚🏻‍♂️

Trying to find my niche in tying and art. This was fun. I really like this thing and I have other projects in the works. I had a good time getting creative, and carving the mushy. And obviously tying the flies. It does present a problem for me since it’s fragile and I live very mobile in a bus haha

what do yall think about this thing?

Seaducer variants

A friend of mine in Florida asked me to tie these for em. It was fun throwing a ton of material on a huge hook, and tying with mono was different.

[WTS] Wally wing flies in antique cedar chest

Some really cool Wally wing flies and a moth I tied inside an antique “Lane cedar chest”. This one specifically came from wheeler Texas in 1950. It has the key. Help! I need money for more fly tying material! I recently started tying salmon flies and I need funds to support my habit. Turns out fly tying is a rich man’s sport and as a fella who lives in a short bus sourcing and affording material is a struggle! Asking $180 Can ship in the USA and Canada. Venmo or cashapp

Another Wally

Another one from yesterday, I like how proportional the wings are, and how the fibers lined up without any super visible gaps. I think I need some finer point scissors to clip the tips of the wings

Wally wings 🪽

Tied a billion of these for fun today. The wing is hard to get into the right position and I’m struggling to keep the fibers evenly spaced when I tie it on and tear it down the middle. Could use some tips if you’ve got em. I’d say 85% of my billion came out presentable. Coulda tied 2 billion but I have my new tying seat was distracted by little house of the prairie all day.

New tying desk

Recently did some bus re-modeling and this is my new tying desk. Not much but it’s a big upgrade from my previous spot in the bus
