Solo overnight camp, peace and quiet with a basic setup.

I spent an overnight camp along a beautiful back water section of the Murray River in Australia. I set out with basic gear reminding me how much I enjoy to camp like this. Using the fire to cook and heat water, spend time enjoying nature rather than fussing over unnecessary equipment. I spent time fishing, tending to the fire, campfire cooking and shooting film and photography. It was just me and my own company in peace and solitude. Just what the doctor ordered.

Solo overnight camp with basic gear, peace and quiet. Sometimes simple is best.

I spent a relaxing night on a beautiful creek.

It's winter here in Aus so there are some creeks running in my neck of the woods that make for beautiful campsites. I spent a night here taking it all in, cooking on the fire, filming, and enjoying time to myself in peace. I use basic equipment that sticks to traditional camping roots. Tent, campfire cooking gear etc. My love for basic camping has peaked in the last couple years.

My Solo camp wasn't so solo. I had some curious visitors.

I recently camped in the Aussie Bush on a working cattle farm. I spent one night out there and had some very friendly guests make themselves very welcome. I spent time filming and cooking up food on the fire. It was very cold but that's just the way I like it.

Campfire cooking with cast iron.

Over the last year or so my love for cooking with cast iron over campfires has grown. It is by far my favourite way to cook while camping. I would love to know what peoples favourite meals to make in the camp ovens are, I'm always looking for more ideas. This picture was taken on my lastsy solo camp in Australia, I had a pie night, having beef cheese and bacon pies and apple pie for dessert.

I solo bush camped on an Australian river, with basic gear.

A few days ago a solo camped again along one of my favourite parts of the state. My setup sticks to bush camping roots and is very basic, a tent, cast iron cookware and a chair. I've had it all including campers and this is honestly my favourite way to camp, keeping it simple. This was a very beautiful spot nestled into my own little corner of paradise along the river. Hope you enjoy the pics.
