Which heroes give you major Mr. Darcy vibes?

Hello everyone!

With this crazy heatwave going on, I’ve been re-reading Pride and Prejudice for the 1,300th time. It got me thinking: which other romance heroes totally embody that "Mr. Darcy" archetype?

For me, Mary Balogh’s heroes immediately come to mind, specifically George Crabbe the Duke of Stanbrook in {Only Beloved}, and of course, Wulfric Bedwyn in {Slightly Dangerous}.

What about you? Which heroes give you total Mr. Darcy vibes?

Mmc watch Fmc from his window

Hey guys, I need your help finding a book!

I stumbled across it on this sub a while back and completely forgot to save the title. I haven't read it yet, but the premise stuck with me:

- MMC is in prison.

- FMC visits the prison for some reason.

- MMC watches her from his cell window.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'd love to find it. Thanks! 😁

Looking for FMC who chooses happiness over self-sacrifice (No more self-sabotage/martyr tropes!)

Hello lovelies!

I’m currently feeling a bit bored and drained by the classic self-sacrificing or self-sabotaging FMCs. You know the ones—the martyrs who run away 'for the MMC's own good,' or who refuse happiness because they feel unworthy or fear the risks.

I am looking for a book with a proactive FMC who grabs opportunity and happiness with both hands, regardless of the doubts, social pressures, or risks involved.

I want an heroine who:

- Prioritizes her own happiness and the happiness of her couple/lover, rather than trying to please everyone else or save the world at her own expense.

- Is brave enough to say 'I want this, and I’m going to fight for it' instead of overthinking or pulling away.

Doesn't necessarily need to be a 'bad' or cruel person, but someone who is uncompromising when it comes to her fulfillment and her love story.

If she comes across as a bit 'selfish' to the outside world because she refuses to play the martyr, even better!

What I want to avoid:

- Miscommunication tropes where she leaves 'to protect him'.

- Angst built entirely on her pushing him away due to endless insecurities.

Any period is welcome, any authors as well, I'm not a fan of Scarlett Scott, but otherwise feel free to drop any rec if the vibe fit.

Thank you so much for your recommendations! ✨

Looking for: Distant MOC where the rejected FMC moves on with her life and the MMC dies of jealousy!

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for a historical romance with a very specific, angst trope setup. I really want a story that focuses heavily on the main characters' internal emotional journeys, with lots of deep POV / time spent in their heads.

Here is my checklist:

- The Setup: The MMC and FMC get married early in the book. It’s a Marriage of Convenience (MOC) that neither of them really wanted. However, the FMC is resilient and ready to try to make the best of it.

- The Rejection: The MMC avoids and rejects her initially. Instead of moping forever, the FMC accepts it, takes a step back, and focuses on spending time with her own friends and family.

- The Turning Point ? : A protective male figure in her life (her father, brother, or a close male friend) tells her she deserves better and should leave the MMC. Crucially, the MMC overhears this conversation.

- The Jealousy: While the FMC remains strictly loyal to her vows, she starts spending a lot of time with another man who is visibly in love with her. I want the MMC to absolutely *die of jealousy* watching this.

- The Vibe: Heavy character focus, lots of internal monologue/angst, and it **must** have a Happy Ending (HEA).

I'm perfectly fine with older/vintage HR (80s/90s) or more recent releases, as long as it hits these emotional beats!

Does anyone have any recs that fit this ?

Thank you so much!
